Driving Behind An Overloaded Pickup Truck by boldx(m): 8:30pm On Jan 11, 2016
Driving behind an overloaded pickup truck is not entirely safe most especially when you are driving at a relatively high speed. A friend was driving his car (manual transmission) on a long express way precisely on Kubwa road. He was driving on the speed lane (inner left lane) and since other cars were almost beside him on adjacent lanes. He just thought his lane was just alright and there was no cause for panic.

Incidentally, he found himself driving behind a Toyota Hilux pick up van that was carrying lots of furniture which were not tied up. Kubwa road. Somehow as they drove at a fairly good speed at about 100km/h, once of the chairs which was not tied up, fell off from the pickup truck and landed on his bonnet. With the sudden impact, the same chair fell on his windscreen and shattered it, making him to lose control. In a fright, he swerved his car to the left and his ride hit the concrete at the middle of the road making him to loose control. The impact on the car was so severe that his left fender, front bumper, headlights bonnet were badly damaged.

Funny enough, the driver of the Toyota Hilux did not wait to stop to sympathize with the driver of the accidented car. He just zoomed on and disappeared. What a funny world!

We can learnt a few lessons from this but we still hope on God to save us while driving.

*Do not drive directly behind a loaded truck or pick up van
*In a case where this is not possible to avoid, do not drive too close to such a truck.
*Slow down to a speed you can control behind such trucks.
