It all depends on what you want.
Manual: Advantages :
1. Slightly cheaper than an automatic
2. Requires little or no maintenance (transmission system)
3. Can be fun to drive (for some folks)
4. Some of your friends (esp females) will not like to borrow your ride

Disadvantages :
1. Can be a chore to drive (for most people)

Automatic. Advantages
1. As a taxi driver, you can drive it from morning till night without being stressed out. Ie. It's very convenient to drive

Disadvantages
1. Slightly costlier than the manual
2. Needs more maintenance(fluid change and all)
3. Higher probability of transmission failure
4. Every Tom Dick and Harry be like "I can drive it nah, what's in it? "

Automatic is for disabled drivers ..... lol

Economically manual transmission is best for taxi business; it comsume less fuel & it require little or no maintainance at all!

Auto transmissions are fun to drive but they are not as rugged as their Manual counterparts. In auto transmissions, you bother about ATF levels and axle/gear oil levels.most cars these days are front wheel drive. And these front wheels drive cars have compartment for Automatic Transmission Fluid and Gear/Axle oil compartment. Some People that own cars with front wheel drives Auto transmission doesn't even know about the axle oil compartment.
A slightest mess with the appropriate ATF fluid could lead to serious malfunctions and costly repairs. Even though some good mechanics can service the gear box, most repairs of AT requires complete change of gear box or other very expensive components like gearbox brainbox and fibers which are often expensive and time consuming.

Manual transmission are stressful to drive but they require less maintenance. Replacing the clutch fibre in case of malfunction takes few moment. The gear box is often very serviceable and requires just ordinary gear oil.
If your battery run down in AT you must find another battery to support your own before it starts. But in MT your can push the car and it will start with a dead battery.

manual,you get to be in control of your ride,you can JumpStart if your battery or ignition is bad,put the transmission in neutral when low on fuel,the list goes on.....

Consider traffic. Manual will be cheaper to maintain but you may die young from driving-related stress.
