the orange guru- GT, they are just the best, but you see that red olodo called UBA, their customer service is so poorrrrrrr, they blame you for everything that happens to your account even when it is not your fault, ATM is not customized. they just dey do anyhow

Wokeyim:

I'm sure some GTB staff started this thread and called many more of his colleagues to join in defence of the bank. sad sad sad sad

There you go wrong, the facts stand undoubtedly that gtb is the best. Have you ever been to any of their banking halls, welcoming atmosphere, undelayed transaction, no queues, I cant count how many times i ve had to withdraw from their atm machines with my oceanic atm card. on a particular occasion in Akowonjo area of Lagos where 6 different banks were located, only gtb atm machine was working, thank God for them i would ve been stranded that sunday. should i talk about their security, the way the would attend to you at the entrance and serve you as if you are a mini god. In fact, countless other reasons make me to thumb up for GTB.

GTBank is my prefered bank. But I hate their policy when it comes to recruitment sha. Heard that over 60% of the people you see in their banking halls are contract staff.

FOR WHAT I KNOW AND BELIEVE ,THERE ARE TWO BANKS IN NIGERIA , IS GTBANK AND OTHERS ,I VE BEEN USING THEM FOR THE PAST 6YRS AND I CAN'T REMEMBER HAVING ANY BAD EXPERIENCE ABOUT THEM.THEY ARE SO POLITE, FRIENDLY,TRNSPARENT IN THEIR DEALINGS,AND DOWN TO HEART .
I GIVE IT TO GTBANK OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

I bank with UBA, GTB & Zenith but really regret banking with UBA. I dont want to have any business with them as soon as I finish paying off my loan. These guys will rip you off with their hidden charges to make the matter worse, their ATM went off as a result of power outage at their bank just the moment my money was about to be dispensed and after verbal and written complaints I am yet to get my 20k which was debited and never dispensed. I thought ATM are supposed to run on UPS? Anyway, I've decided to move my salary account to GTB because they are tested and trusted.

This thread has lost its meaning!
Its been hijacked by "self-interest" of some banks-staff, with their dubious hiding behind computer screen to praise their bank to high heavens!

The thread was meant only for "customers" to evaluate and give their opinions, not some job-seeking Youth-Corper or some staff like "nethacker" to come and clandestinely infiltrate opinions in the favor of their employer!

Having said that, as a customer with accounts in GTB, ZENITH, UBA and FIRST BANK, out of these four, UBA is the worst, in terms of rip-off charges and customer service.
There was this day l was at the Obalende immigration office for my Passport renewal and had some "waiting-time" on my hands. I decided to use the opportunity to withdraw money from UBA branch at the Passport office, at Obalende. They told me they only accept cash and fair enough, l proceeded to the one at the Obalende B/stop (My account is domiciled in V/I).

Now, l was told that they would charge me some hefty percentage (and it was a huge amount l was withdrawing) for UP-COUNTRY withdrawal!
Now, in-case you've not noticed, the "Up-country" is between Victoria Island branch and Obalende branch (less than 10km away)!!
angry shocked
To cut a long and annoying story short, l thanked them for their "services", took my time and came back the next day.
I CLEANED MY ACCOUNT and left some #30,000 naira emergency fund for them to play with. It's been almost a year now and l dont even bother to check the account anymore.

I should also mention that l find it funny that Nigerian banks, including GTB are charging us horrendously for acquisition of "Their TOKEN"?
Why must we be charged for every technology-implementation that the bank does?
These things are done to secure transactions and make their job easier, and for these we already pay "bank charges" and they also use our money to "create wealth" for themselves through "loans and financing", WHY CHARGE US AGAIN FOR SOMETHING AS BASIC AS TOKEN?

I would still rate GTBank customer service highest and let no man deceive himself, a lot of staff at the "back office" also deserve credit since if not for their efficiency, that "Customer Service" can easily become "Customer horror"!

Finally, please let those GTB staff lurking around here tell their Managers to instruct their Ilupeju branch to stop harassing customers over use of Mobile phone in the banking hall, its an OUTDATED DIRECTIVE.

In summary:
Long term safety of funds: First Bank
Efficiency                          : GTB/ZENITH
Customer Service             : GTB
Obnoxious charges and bad manners: UBA

I dont want to go into "staff appearance" since this is closely tied to how much the bank pays its staff but First bank staff should either wear well-made Suits or wear" Buba and Shokoto", in the alternative!
Looking like a scare-crow just for the sake of wearing a Suit is a dis-service to Corporate dressing!
Pay your staff some sizable dressing allowance, abeg, First Bank,

I've been banking with Zenith, GTB, and Stanbic.
And from my experience, i will vote Zenith Bank No. 1.
Zenith Bank is the only bank that does not charge you for across the counter withdrawal of less than 100,000 naira. Other banks would charge you N200 for that.
Re: Best Nigerian Bank? by otukpo(f): 11:21am On Jun 29, 2009
i dont know why all the noise about GTb. it was what actually made me to open an account with them. Zenith has improved tremendously even in the area of customer service.
I can never bank with UBA and wld not advise anybody to do so. UBA will charge u even for the air u breath while in their premises. And their customer service is zero. They are too backward

Intercontinental is the promo master,MD birthday goes with a promo of brand new cars (not to be won) staff get targets and sanctions, even the bank's birthday na the same thing.
Not too comfortable with them, happy bank happy customer-UNHAPPI STAFF

I have my doubt for them

for saftey depending on the amount say 100million and above------FBN,UBN
for 50m------------------ -less than 100 million------------------ZBN,GTB,UNITY,PHB,OCEANIC
for 5m-------------------less than 50 million--------------------STEARLING,SKYE,
for 1m--------------------less than 5 million---------------------ECO,INTER,FIDELITY
for 100k---------------------less than 1m-------------------------STANBIC,IBTC
less than 100k ,u have nothing to fear any bank goes as well as BABA IJEBU MICRO FINIANCE or GOD IS ABLE MICRO FINIANCE or even MEETINGS,CONTRIBUTION,AJO,UNDERPILLOW,UNDER CARPET,infact ANYWHERE
