Boeing Offers FUTA Student Internship Opportunity by Caseless: 9:57pm On Feb 02, 2016
The world’s largest aerospace company and leading manufacturer of commercial jetliners and security systems, Boeing Company, has selected a final year student of the Department of Transport Management Technology at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Oladunni Ogunnubi, to participate in its 2016 Internship Programme in the United States of America.

Ogunnubi won the slot as the sole candidate from Nigeria based on the strength of her academic results and sterling performance during the electronically conducted oral interview with the Selection Board of Boeing, U.S.A.
She is expected to spend between six and 12 months for the internship programme at the company’s headquarters in Seattle, Washington.
According to the company, the programme is designed to offer opportunities to emerging leaders in the commercial aviation industry and position them for greater responsibilities in the future.

It said the beneficiaries would be exposed to the field of Transport Engineering and Management through an all-round experience in Boeing Aircraft Industry, even as the company added that the opportunity will serve as a veritable source of international job engagements for outstanding students.

Ogunnubi, with other interns from other countries such as Kenya, Ethiopia, Jamaica, Togo, Trinidad and Tobago, and Morocco, apart from the all-paid travel expenses, will also get hourly stipends and will be attached to a designated manager while taking part in the programme which is expected to commencein May.

In his reaction to the development, the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adebiyi Daramola, described it as another testimony to the excellent quality of students of the institution, saying Ogunnubi has once again shown that FUTA is producing outstanding students as a result of the high quality of its academic programmes.
The vice-chancellor, who said the feat has further demonstrated that students of the institution could compete favourably with their counterparts across the globe, however congratulated the students and the Head of Department of Transport Management Technology, Dr. Kolawole Gbadamosi, for what he described as their contributions to the growth and development of the ivory tower.
