Eric Holder?

Even in the United States, a Lawyer not Licensed in another State cannot defend or do anything as a Lawyer in that State, let alone one from the United States coming to Africa to defend a Company known for ripping her Customers off.

Eric Holder lives and practices Law in the United States, MTN operates and ripped people off in Nigeria, so is answerable to the Laws of Sango and our Land.
thank you America nd Nigeria opreate diff legal system so on the matter weda he has d right to be heard in nigerian court is absolutely impossible moreso nigeria embassy might decide not to grant him a visa to nigeria fawehinmi v abacha .....its only a waste of time

MTN must be made to obey the laws of the land. By twisting the arms of Nigrria by hiring someone that can put pressure on Nigeria through the United States government shows that MTN has no intention of paying a penny of that fine even if it's reduced to $100. MTN has crossed all lines of decency & must be treated as such. If MTN is no longer comfortable doing business in Nigeria, please park ur rubbish & go to a country where u can flaunt their laws & get away with it.

@all, a legal practitioner that operates in a state practicing common law system can take up a case in Nigeria, but subject to a license issued by the CJN at his own discretion.
Re: MTN Hires Eric Holder To Challenge $3.9b Fine by mumoftwo(f): 3:24pm On Feb 03, 2016
Yes. Eric Holder can represent MTN if he applies to the CJN. However, he must convince the CJN on the expediency of why he has to be the one to represent MTN when we have competent lawyers licensed to practise in Nigeria.

Ghen ghen!!! The showdown begins.

But let's be sincere, that fine is way too outrageous. That's about 4 times the total worth of Otedola. This is purely a national conspiracy against MTN. Methinks, NCC should just come out plain and boldly ask MTN to leave the country. That seems like the general demand, even amongst the citizenry.

$3.9bn fine on one company is insanely cruel & unrealistic. Even Microsoft Corporation cannot joke with such funds. If MTN NG pays that amount, they will surely feel it.
Do you know how much MTN earns per Day? Week? Month? Year? These investors do not even reveal the true nature and details of their profits to the Nigerian Government, so am not surprised you claim the amount is outrageous.

I insist the said amount is not outrageous. Besides, there were aware of the fine but still went ahead to go against the laws of the land. Maybe they felt, its still GEJ that is in power, not knowing we have "The People's General" who hates any thing corruption.

If it were in the last administration, MTN would simply have reached out to some persons that matter in the government and the matter would have died down just like that.

Thank God for the government of PMB
Sai Buhari Kewe.

MTN must pay the $3.9 billion.

Let him now, i believe d Niger/Delta boys don ready, as dem go k*dn*p him. After, Mtn go cum pay d ransom then dem go pay d normal fine, by d time Bubu is through with. Diz step should send a signal to PMB, that he must stand his ground on diz fine to as a detriment.

He can be hired as an adviser, lobbyist and also negotiator, but you are right he will not represent in court. He can still play a significant role without representing in court.

I believe MTN already have 3 SANs who will be the face of the case in court.

Definitely. No matter how many lawyers they hire, they cannot spend $3.9bn lol

They would rather pay lawyers heavily to represent them than dash NCC free money, lol.

Re: MTN Hires Eric Holder To Challenge $3.9b Fine by Wallade(m): 3:37pm On Feb 03, 2016
MTN can only delay the case for a short while with their rigmarole. They will still be heard in a competent court of law, sentenced appropriately and mandated to pay because they don't have a good case.

They can appeal the case to the supreme court level and that is final. The supreme court will still mandate MTN to pay. At that point, if they refuse to pay the fine, Nigeria may have to nationalize the assets and liabilities of MTN in Nigeria and wind up MTN in Nigeria.
Re: MTN Hires Eric Holder To Challenge $3.9b Fine by tiredface: 3:38pm On Feb 03, 2016
MTN SHOULD HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR THE ACCOUNT NUMBERS OF THESE JUDGES, THATS HOW IT WORKS IN NIGERIA, THATS HOW TO WIN YOUR CASES.

He can't practice law in Nigeria. Waste of money except in an advisory capacity. A Nigeria lawyer cannot practice in US without attending American Law School and so it is in Nigeria.
