Mr Saraki's case should be subjected to the provisions of the Constitution and the Orders of the Senate. If the law requires him to resign he should not wait to be disgraced before he does the needful.
Re: Step Aside Now, Lawan Group Tells Saraki by free2ryhme: 1:42pm On Feb 06, 2016
When robbers make laws for judges to interpret, it is simply insane. Not that Saraki is already guilty, but trying to avoid prosecution is criminal. Odili got away with his. But a new Sheriff is in town, so judges must be weary asking that anyone with no immunity be left untried. Saraki should just step aside and face the law. He can thereafter come back if not guilty. But, will he?

Their logic is faulty. If we agree that a man who is facing criminal allegations cannot lead the senate, then we are opening the doors for the executive to control the leadership of the senate.

In as much as the criminal prosecution power is in the hands of the executive, it means any government that doesn't like a particular senate president or House of rep speaker only has to institute a case against him, no matter how frivolous and the person accused would have to resign. That doesn't make sense.

Saraki is innocent until proven guilty. If he is convicted then he has to go, but not otherwise
Zombies will not reason with you ooo. This trail has political undertone. The ruling party don't want him as senate president chikina! Other wise, tell me any one among them that are not guilty of false asset declaration. Both past and present political office holders (Apc and Pdp).

Na wa o.

The supreme court only ruled on the ability of the code of conduct tribunal to try him. How can the supreme court indirectly indict him when full trial has not even started in the CCT and the prosecution has not opened its case. undecided

I know apc has 69 senators wheras pdp has 40 senators so among those 69 apc senators there is a divided camp saraki group and lawan group so if a fresh election is to be held between the two groups the saraki group will win because they have the backing of 40 pdp senators.

How many politicians have morals ?

It would have been nice if the lawall group are genuinely calling for saraki resignation but all what they are after is to retain the lost and. Coveted seat and not doing so for the morality and Nigerians sake.

95% of the senators have one corrupt cases and have not put the interest of Nigerians as a common goal.

If majority of the senators could give saraki a vote of confidence, that shows they are same
The law presumed you innocent until found guilty.

The APC in Lagos said it does matter if someone is having corruption case in court, he can still preside ( Lagos state speaker - Ikuforiji) he was going from house of assembly to the court for trial by EFCC.

The APC in Lagos stood by him and even our lawyers saw nothing bad, they kept sounding it that he is innocent until proven guilty.

As for saraki, let the court find him guilty before he is asked to vacate his seat cos I see his travails more of political to other things.

As much as I hate corruption Saraki has to remain the SP until proven other wise by the laws of the land. The executive instituted the suit against him because he emerged as SP against the party wish.

Incase Saraki is found guilty and jailed, every penny that will be retrieved from him should go back to Kwara state. It rightfully belongs there.
Re: Step Aside Now, Lawan Group Tells Saraki by sezsimon2003: 5:23pm On Feb 06, 2016
IMP I believe if all the present senators assets declaration form should be scrutinized none of them will remain in that national assembly, the more they continue to chase saraki the more foolish they'll continue to look. if saraki is removed his group would still produce D next SP and if bad comes to worst they'll back a PDP candidate to spite APC.......... who knows we might break that jinx of producing abt 20 SP in 4yrs

It doesn't work like that! If he resigns or is impeached, the Clerk of the Senate will be led to declare the position Vacant. And then, a new Senate President Is elected...that is the Law!!

Bros nobody hate saraki. they are fighting him because:
1. He disobey the party rules
2.Anty party activities brought him to power.
3.He believe he is smarter and more intelligent than others.
4.He is a new comer(decampy frm pdp).
5.Apc member dont trust his loyalty to the party.
6.He took opposition as his deputy.
7. Their are people that hav contributed sooo much to Apc that shld be senate presidnt.nt him, a new comer.
8. The national leader(Jagaban)dont recognize him. etc. i can go on n on.
so its beta he step down and gain respect frm his party or be disgrace out of it without notin.
