Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom has commended President Muhamadu Buhari for allowing all the three tiers of Government to fuction smoothly without let or hindrance.

Udom Emmanuel who gave the commendation in a state wide radio and television broadcast to celebrate the Supreme Court Judgment which validated and confirmed his election as the duly elected Governor enjoined the opposition All Progressives Congress to join him in the task of bringing development to the state.

The governor said that in every political contest there must be a winner and a loser and explained that Politics should not be used as a wedge issue to divide brothers and sisters, nor an instrument that creates disharmony among an otherwise homogenous people.

.“As I have always stated: political foes of today may be political allies tomorrow. We should be guided by this ennobling ideal.”

“I hereby call on our brothers and sisters from the other side of the political divide to close ranks and join me, in moving Akwa Ibom state to surpass superior performance and ensure development that is sustainable, impactful and expansive,”

“We don’t have any other state to call ours except the great Akwa Abasi Ibom State,” Mr. Emmanuel said.

Governor Emmanuel added that, “The other side had a right to aspire to power, even though we don’t agree with their approach and mechanics.

Governor Emmanuel said he was committed to providing exemplary leadership that will inspire the people of Akwa Ibom to greatness.

He called on the people to remain law abiding and shun acts that could cause public disaffection.

The Supreme Court judgment brought to an end the legal battle between Governor Udom Emmanuel of the Peoples Democratic Party and his opponent, Umana Okon Umana of the APC.
