I recently bought a LG LG5100 43" LED TV. And after automatic search, I received over 100 channels mostly StarTimes and Metro Channels. Only STV Guide shows among StarTimes channels, but I was able 2 clearly watch the following channels which I believe are Metro cable: France 24, Dubai One, Sports Extra, Sportnet4, Huda, History, Discovery, Metro Kids, Metro Magic, EWTN, Sound City, VOD TV, Love World, Dove Vision, Nat Geo, Emmanuel TV, OPM TV, Travel.
I understand these are free channels on the Metro package, but I wanna know if there is any workaround to make other channels show?
Any Idea is welcomed.

The only reason smart tvs are able to catch those signals is because those decoder signals are not encrypted. It happened like that when DSTV was still a very young company in the Nigerian market, 1993 precisely. Didn't take them up to four months to encrypt their signals thereby forcing every potential customer to buy and install their decoders.

Buy a HDTV digital indoor antenna on jumia online platform or konga.You can watch those channels from on air.

their signals are encrypted and they require a purchase of their decoders to view those stations. They do not even allow you use their cards on other hardware except theirs.

The fact you could receive some encrypted stations on your TV is of no moment. you can also point your FTA satellite receiver at DSTV and see their channels on your decoder, but you will not be able view them.



unless and until domestic TV stations switch to Digital broadcast, you are wasting your time.

They are free stations on Startimes and Gotv platform. They both have stations that show for free without subscription.


If you track DStv on satellite, CCCN and a few stations show for free.

I've moved from my previous location to another one. Yet, abt 2months ago, I received abt 51 DTV channels Including MBC 2, Max, Action, CNN, BBC,, Al-Jazeera, boomerang, cartoon network, WWE network, TV land 1, realtime, HBO, HBO 1, HBO 2, crime & investivation, ID, etc.

It lasted 4 more than a month b4 going off. I've not checked back 4 a while Cos I'm on gotv sub.

Still don't have any idea whr itz coming from.

bro, which area of Lagos were you then, I believe it's true, my friends tv shows some GoTv channels like the go channel and tiwantiwa, wap, rave etc in itire area.

I'm still asking which exact area of Lagos were you getting the previous channels where you lived before and the area you are staying now maybe I could direct my antenna to the direction. waiting for your feedback.

indoor antenna has limits in reception,
but if you get a good outdoor antenna firmly mounted high above the tall houses around you, you'll get more channels that are clearer
