There is currently a disquiet among security operatives attached to the Presidential Villa, Abuja, over their unpaid allowances, The PUNCH has learnt.

If not addressed quickly, the situation, our correspondent learnt on Wednesday, might degenerate into a security breach.

Multiple sources who spoke with our correspondent on the condition of anonymity said “loyalty of the security operatives had dropped drastically” over the non-payment of the allowance.

The PUNCH learnt that under former President Goodluck Jonathan, all security agents attached to the Presidential Villa enjoyed what they called Risk Cautious Allowance.

The security officers include those of the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police, Department of State Services, Nigerian Intelligence Agency, Federal Road Safety Commission and Fire Service.

It was learnt that Jonathan’s administration paid the allowance up until March last year and left those of April and May unpaid.

The op]eratives are however regretting that since the inception of the present administration, they have not been paid.

Following a media report last year that President Muhammadu Buhari had stopped the payment of the allowance, our correspondent learnt that the security operatives were told by their bosses that the RCA had not been stopped as reported.

They said they were not only assured that they would be paid, but were also promised that the rate would be reviewed upward.

In the past, senior officers were said to be receiving about N30,000 per month while junior officers get about N25,000.

To assure the operatives of government’s readiness to continue the payment, they were said to have been asked to open bank accounts with Zenith Bank Plc where their RCA will subsequently be paid.

One of the operatives however said since last year that they opened the bank accounts, the government had not fulfilled its promise of paying the allowance.

A top Presidency official, who pleaded anonymity, however, told our correspondent that the security operatives’ allowances had been approved in January.

He expressed the belief that payments would soon be made to those concerned.

When contacted on the telephone, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, declined comment, saying the matter is a security issue.

I hope Baba looks into this and pay them their due entitlements asap. Owing workers their pay is what I could never stand for. They worked for it and are duly entitled to the monies. Nothing should stop the government from honouring the terms of their engagement.

I have said this before. Forget the name tag e-worriors/zombies give us here, theygo home to face their families in frustration and grumbling over the harsh economic situation we are facing. When security men complain about not receiving their salaries, then nobody is safe anymore.

For disaster not to occur or murder not to be carried out, those security agents should not be allowed to go and eat at the same time......I'm saying this base on the occurence of the past events of breached security.

shocked that's sad, I want to believe the main salaries are paid though and it's just the allowances that are outstanding. If the allowances are going to be discontinued, maybe it should just be stated once and for all so they know and stop hoping. It's annoying to approve it and do nothing. I feel for them

We shouldn't be hearing news of this kind.

The President should act swiftly and ensure the workers are paid for their efforts and loyalty.

Hunger is an unnecessary distraction.

Na dis kind situation de make all these security aids compromise their positions.

Imagine, a man charged to protect your life, u no wan pay him, he will be angry with you, and if anything happen, he will just overlook it and allow you to die.

A friend of my father has a driver, a very rich man, when this man goes for any occasion, he will be served as a big man that he is, but once the food is brought to him, he will tell them that one man must eat b4 him, and that is d driver, he will tell them to carry that same food meant for him to the driver because the people serving might not serve the driver well maybe because he is a driver.

His reasons being that his life is in the hands of the driver, that he must not lack anything and that he must not be angry with him, otherwise he might just cause an accident that will claim his life or even drive him into kidnappers den or even plan to rob him. Therefore, the driver must always be happy. If u see where this man is gisting with his driver, u will think he is gisting with a fellow big man like him.

PMB pay those men oh, maka ndu gi.

Like seriously this man called PMB is stepping on people's toes. Why will the allowances of people supposedly guiding your abode be deprived of them?

I suggest they go on strike and see if Oga "Bubu" will not pay with speed.

PMB set in motion TSA to cub corruption but a lot of government workers are suffering based on that same development.

Even @ aso villa men are gnashing their teeth, I don't really know what Mr president is up to but let him understand the pain this policy of his is bringing on the populace...

Since the said allowances is about "raping nigerians". Why has PMB our fight corruption knight not stopped it? Or why did he approve it?(according to the source)

One thing about your lots is that u argue blindly and unreasonably.
