A Benin High Court has asked Alhaji Aliru Momoh Ikelebe III, the Otaru of Auchi, to vacate the premises where his palace has been located in the last two decades describing him as an illegal occupant. The court ordered him to exit the premises within 31 days. The court said that the property belong Orbit Building Society Limited, which had sued the Otaru claiming ownership of the piece of land and also ordered the monarch to pay N10 million as damages. Yes à chief can also be an illegal occupant. He is even lucky not to have been sacked from the stool in addition. |
