The two north west rivals lock horns at Wembley for the first major prize of the season - here's all you need to know

The first major honour of the domestic season will be dished out this weekend, when Liverpool and Manchester City lock horns in the Capital One Cup final at Wembley.

For Reds boss Jurgen Klopp it presents an opportunity to pick up some silverware in his first season at Anfield as he continues to get to grips with the demands of the Premier League.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini is eyeing a trophy in what he now knows will be his last campaign with City, as Pep Guardiola waits in the wings.

Both sides have been in action during midweek and the two teams will meet again on Wednesday at Anfield, but which side will be looking for revenge in that clash?

Here's all you need to know ahead of the showpiece final.

1. When is the match and where can I see it?

The action gets under way at Wembley at 4.30pm on Sunday afternoon, so adjust your Sunday dinner plans accordingly.

You will be able to watch the action on Sky Sports 1, but if you are not near a television, then Mirror Football will be running a live blog so you needn't miss a thing.

2. Team news

Liveprool trio Adam Lallana (calf), Joe Allen (hamstring) and Martin Skrtel (hamstring) all returned to training this week, but may not be ready for Sunday's match.

Dejan Lovren has recovered from the illness that kept him out of the Thursday-night win over Augsburg, when Lucas filled in at the back.

Manchester City could welcome back Wilfired Bony, Jesus Navas and Eiaquim Mangala from injury.

Fabian Delph, Samir Nasri and Kevin de Bruyne are all out with long-term injuries.

Back and firing: Daniel Sturridge looks to finally be getting over his injury woe
A fit and firing Daniel Sturridge is one of the Premier League's most dangerous players. The England striker looks to finally be returning to full fitness, having started the Reds' last three games and should be able to get at City's less than convincing defence.

9. Manchester City's key man

Key man: City are different side with Kompany at the back
Charged with stopping Sturridge will be Vincent Kompany, who also looks to be coming back his best following a nightmare spell with injuries. The City backline is a different beast altogether when the skipper is in in the line-up, as he brings the best out his defensive partners.

Jurgen Klopp on Liverpool's tactics: "I should not talk here about tactics - I think even in Manchester they have televisions so that is not for the press conference. You can be sure we will have a plan but it is not allowed to go with exactly the same plan in a completely different game.

"If I think about it I have a few nice pictures in my mind of after the game at Wembley, being together with our fans and a real reason to celebrate together with no doubts about why we do that."
