Anambra To Begin Export Of Rice Soon – Gov. Obiano by raker300: 6:55am On Mar 08, 2016
Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State says the State will soon begin the exportation of rice to improve its economy.

Obiano also said the state’s Ministry of Agriculture had cultivated a special brand of pumpkin and bitter leaf.

Obiano announced these during the inauguration of Justice Development and Peace Caritas 2016 Week by the Catholic Diocese in Awka on Sunday.
Obiano called on his people to become self-sufficient by cultivating the fertile land to grow and export vegetables.

The governor and his wife, Ebelechukwu, were later honoured as the Grand Pillar and Mother of Charity respectively by the JDPC.

Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese in Akwa, said the award was in recognition of their contributions to improving the lives of the poorest of the poor in the state.
Ezeokafor said: “It is also for the numerous development strides his administration had done to better the lots of Ndi Anambra.”

Ezeokafor, whose homily centred on the prodigal son in St. Luke, urged Christians to avail themselves of the second chance provided for them through Christ to return to God and to always show mercy and pity for others.

The bishop said national growth demands contributions from every Nigerian, and advised against infringement on human rights by those in authority.

He called on security operatives to always discharge their duties in a patriotic manner, saying that every Nigerian deserved to be treated with respect not intimidation.

The Director of JDPC in Awka, Rev. Fr. Simon Anigbogu, said the award was well deserved “with special reference to the adequate security instituted by the governor making Anambra the safest state in Nigeria”.

Anigbogu also extolled the governor’s wife for her special programmes for the less privileged and called for collaboration with her foundation for maximum benefit to the poor in the society.

Just wish someone could talk to Obiano about the price hike of land in Anambra.

Ma dad bought a land in Awka last year for 7mill. Now land is going for 13mil in the same location and 17 mill in some other strategic locations

I know of supply and demand but you can't ask igbos to return home and when they start to do, we begin to hike prices

Anambra is making giant strides. Actually it seems the lower oil prices has awakened us from slumber -- everyone is trying to make moves.

Fayose though, is still stuck in the past/campaign mode.

13 million? Ewoo.
Land in Abia state is cheap na, getting a land in Aba is around 600 thousand while Umuahia will be around 800-2 million naira.
So Anambra should reduce the cost of their land.

My thoughts exactly!
Flood the local market first - this will knock down the price. Then export if you have satisfied local consumption. cheesy grin

Anambra is the new Abuja...booming massively! Investors are trooping in like craze explains the hike...high demand, low supply. Hurry and get it now for 13 million. If you wait till next yr, it will be 26 million.

since when do nigerians matter. Even your nigerian government don't care for nigerians but you want Anambra state to care for nigerians.

The local rice market is dominated by ebonyi and Anambra rice. We're expanding our market, you're here making jest...get in line of the program or lose out

enugu is worst. Land goes for 26mil in most locations in enugu...even new locations opening in the state like new Haven extension, new GRA (new area expanded from the old GRA)

What people do is beg land owners to cut a piece of their land and sell to them @ a reasonable price

Land in Umuahia at choice locations goes for 6-10M a plot, while the ones are located in manageable locations are 1-2m a plot.

Only in the villages will you talk abt hundreds of thousands

by your logic, China shouldn't be importing anything any more cos they produce almost everything. Yet China is the highest consumer of foreign goods..

My friend, educated yourself.

Land ownership in Enugu is now an exclusive reserve for the actual "big boys"

Kenyetta-Timber-Maryland axis goes progressively from 28 million, independence layout extension which is purely outskirts hover around 13million. Land areas in Nike around newly constructed Nsukka road is nothing less than 6m if you are lucky to get any piece without problem of Nike people. If you dare have interest in the city centre, talking about buying an old house to demolish in order to erect your own structure, you will cry when you hear figure. You be bank Abi you be telecoms company?

They can't feed Nigerians, they will only sell to Nigerians and export some.

This is a state business, and not a federal ish.

The North, FG or even Buhari is not our problem in the south East, it is purely lack of leaders with Ndi -Igbo at heart that is. Facilitating the infrastructural underdevelopment from the Governments.

Just imagine having this kind of Governor in igbo states since 1999 coupled with our numerous individual developmental efforts, ala- igbo would have been an enviable industrial hub in Africa even with the little federal government contribution to this region.

The last time I visited onitsha I couldn't hold my joy but shout "willie is working" then I started to marvel if it was the same allocation that Imo, Abia Even Enugu under Gburugburu receive that anambra is receiving.

I expected Nnamdi kanu to start his sanitization from home but instead he went pursuing rat when his house was on fire because am sure even if Biafra is actualized today we are not going to import leaders, na these worst that the zoo politicians that will head the affairs.

God bless Nigeria.
