Nigeria’s electoral body INEC on Saturday cancelled a re-run of disputed elections in six local government areas in the volatile southern oil-rich Rivers state because of irregularities.

The re-run for seats in the Rivers state assembly and the national assembly in Abuja became necessary after court rulings on challenges to the initial results of last year elections.

Rivers electoral commissioner Aneidi Ikoiwak told reporters in Port Harcourt, the state capital, that polls were suspended in Gokana, Khana, Andoni, Bonny, Eleme and Tai due to “irregularities” during Saturday’s voting.

The elections went ahead in the remaining 17 of 23 local government areas going to the polls. The official said some party agents had attacked electoral officials after accusing them of using fake election materials for the vote. “This allegation is untrue. All election materials used by INEC are genuine. A new date will be announced for the election,” he said.

Elections have also been held in other states so far and we still observe the same issues with INEC, they still cancel many results and elections are mostly declared Inconclusive.

Have you ever considered the cost of conducting elections over again due to their incompetence? Also, how do you feel about the evidences of malpractice on their part

Stuupid reasons. Inconclusive government. I thought they said Buhari's body language gets people to pee in their pants? How come with all the soldiers from Maiduguri people still weren't intimidated or scared.

Why do this government want more killings for God sake? Imagine if the Supreme Court judgement didn't nullified those PDP elections, no one would have died.

I'm against any form of violence & killings but my question is this; Is PMB capable of securing lives & properties in Nigeria? Why can't they contain Rivers?

Amaechi and Buhari are two big losers and will both end up shameful very soon. Amaechi must be ashamed of himself wherever he is. He should be ready to kiss his political career goodbye. This is interesting in two perspectives. First, and most crucially, the fact that he was heard asseverating that Buhari is his personal friend. Yes, his loss would, ipso facto, be Buhari's loss for the umpteenth time in Rivers State. Recall that he was purveyed with everything he needed: money and security personnel. If these could not suffice to produce the desired result, it then means both the paymaster and the piper are politically flaccid.
Second, this huge victory will dampen Amaechi's pride and relegate him to the background in the APC fold. Yes, the likes of Ali Ndume, Senate Leader, will watch the speck fall off his eyes and the hypnosis shall take to flight. Yes, Tinubu will capitalize on this weakness and edge this abominable fellow out of the Federal Cabinet. Yes, reprieve will come the way of our beloved Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, for the masqueraded foe has become a national embarrassment.
Indeed, the evil that men do lives with them. This nemesis has come to the victim with utmost celerity. I am impelled to believe that the lesson has sunk: no single individual can be greater than a people. There is always a time to be paid in your own coin. Rivers' people have never been this resolute.

INEC just declare APC winners and lets get on with life.
