SCAM!!! Access Bank Scam Alert Email! by ZinoFego: 5:47pm On Mar 23, 2016
I just got an email supposedly from Access Bank Nigeria.

In the first instance, I do not have any bank account with Access bank but as a website developer I decided to delve into the email to see what these guys are up.

The first thing I check for in emails like this is, the sender email address...and voila there it goes...mohammed@eic.com.sa. No doubt, no bank will send you email using an email that is not associated with its domain name.

Ok. Let me spend some time with these guys...I was asked to click a link in the said email(see it below), lo and behold when I arrived, I was told to provide the following details to access my account:

Username:
Password:
Token Code:

No wahala, I did, of cause they were just details I could add up. Next...is the big one..I was asked to provide

Account Number
Token Code

And I did.

Mobile Number:
Email Address:
Email Password:
Token Code:

After imputing the above, I was redirected to the correct homepage of access bank https://www.accessbankplc.com. For sure, before the original website completes loading, you should have started seeing debits alert.

At the end, I just laughed and the same time was a bit concerned because some persons may still fall for this scam.

Please share this thread with as many persons as you can.

Last Lines:
1. When you receive such email, first check the sender email address
2. Ensure that before you do any sensitive financial transaction in any website or online, look at the address bar (where you type www.) to see if the website is secured usually by having a https before the domain name: Eg https://www.accessbankplc.com. I won't be able to go into details on this. But you are not sure, call your bank.
3. Do not give anybody the numbers generated by your online banking Token.

Below is the email I got:

Dear Esteemed Customer,

According to our records, you registered for our Access Customer Digest monthly bulletin and this comes with a monthly charge
of N10,050:00.
As your opinion is important to us, we would like to ask you to confirm this request
https://ibank.accessbankplc.com/RetailBank/action?/confir mdebit

If you wish to reject the registration request, follow the cancel reference below
https://ibank.accessbankplc.com/RetailBank/action?/cancel debit

You would have to confirm you are an active account holder with us by following the procedures from your AccessOnline account.

I get them all the time.

Sometimes I simply give them an obscene reply otherwise times I ignore them.

These people need to be dealt with though.

I can see pensioners losing their life savings to these Baztards.

These funny people have come again. I've received 4 emails from them this morning alone and I do not bank and have never banked with Access. I feel sad for the gullible victims though. I clicked on the CANCEL SUBSCRIPTION link provided and it opened an apparently fake page, then I clicked on other links on the page and it directed me to the real access bank web page.
