@ OKEY, thanks for your contribution, my problem is that my job now is not deeply rooted into reservoir engineering, I worked with a company where we applied chemical during well testing, stimulation and co but this had made me to nave enough insight of reservoir engineering. I want to do the Msc to give me edge in getting a job in a producing company bc there is no carrier path right now with my present job but there is money. please advice. |
| Re: Subsea, Mud, Reservoir, Pipeline, Petroleum, Drilling Engineers & Supervisors Zone by okeyz(m): 7:46pm On Jan 04, 2012 |
^^^ Carry on, well stimulation is inline with reservoir engineering as it deals with the amount of oil in place when a well is to be recovered or stimulated to become productive. from what you ve described of your job ,its like you guys are more into completions and recovery. take it very seriously, you will come across it when u eventually decide to take the course. you might still need to read up well logging too. |
| Re: Subsea, Mud, Reservoir, Pipeline, Petroleum, Drilling Engineers & Supervisors Zone by Netted: 11:29pm On Jan 04, 2012 |
@ okey, you are right as we basically inject chemicals during well completion like DST and surface well testing . Though I have read about enhance oil recovery as well as well logging such as resistivity log, spontaneous potential , MWL, MWD etc but the challenges that I am facing is the real life situation bc my present company only work along with people in this segment and not that we are into it in details. I only share knowledge and ideals with them guys on the rig. |
| Re: Subsea, Mud, Reservoir, Pipeline, Petroleum, Drilling Engineers & Supervisors Zone by okeyz(m): 9:18am On Jan 05, 2012 |
exactly!! thats what you should do, ask questions , try to know whats going on , meet the guys that are on-the-job and make acquaintance that's how you learn, they might not be open to you at first but if you take the initiative and develop your self it will help you. the problem with most Nigerian oil servicing coys is that they do not have the core competencies to carry out these activities, so they partner with the foreign coys for technical expertise and they hustle for the contracts and share the proceeds 50/50. you should try and go out of your way to learn all you can, that's how you develop, your coy will not send you for training, unless your father is the owner of the coy. so make the most of the opportunity, after you have developed ursef to some extent you can always migrate to better service company. there are always jobs for completion personnel Experience really pays high dividend in the end. |

, Infact I really appreciate your contribution, I will start the Msc Petroleum Engineering at Herriot Watt this year. I have the resources to do on campus but my fear is the job opportunity at the end that is why I want to opt for the distance learning. |

Hi guys, just stumbled on this group and i just wanted to ask for your advice in regarding how employers would, treat someone with a Beng in mechanical engineering, a msc in petroleum engineering and a mba in oil and gas management but not alot of industrial experience, and what type of positions employers would consider to put them in |

Pls I need a 1 month crash course in Landmark suite, a well construction software. I already have 3yrs experience as MWD/LWD. Any tutor available in PH? |
| Re: Subsea, Mud, Reservoir, Pipeline, Petroleum, Drilling Engineers & Supervisors Zone by okeyz(m): 1:56pm On Jan 14, 2012 |
bejo2_k: ![]() honestly i dont know what to say, if you really have these i don't think u should have any problem with any human resource personnel , all u need is to package ursef well. Aim for the big MNC (oil and gas), go their websites and send unsolicited application, it will catch someone's attention, especially the management part but meen , you are on fire ! ijay024: just start off by going for self sponsored training, depends on where you are resided, if you in Lagos or Ph, there are some training centres you can start from, but the prices are not cheap either |

@ okeyz,Am recided in Lagos, which training centre is suitable and better; and the price, what range are we talking about. Thanks for getting back to me |

deolub: you can opt for well design and management for you Msc, with your auto card experience it help you a lot, or you can go for SACs training mostly used by structural and offshore engineers for offshore installations very lucrative , but the training is a hefty sum, or you can take a shot at piping design and management another hot career. if you are serious in going for an Msc abroad, go for offshore engineering, it comprises just about everything mentioned above cheers |

deolub:cheers okeyz:

tHANK YOU VERY MUCH @OKEYZ I REALLY APPREC IATE, HOW ABOUT ENVIROMENTAL ENGINEERING , HOW RELEVANT IS IT TO THE OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY AND HOW LUCRATIVE IS IT, |
| Re: Subsea, Mud, Reservoir, Pipeline, Petroleum, Drilling Engineers & Supervisors Zone by okeyz(m): 11:53am On Jan 19, 2012 |
^^^ its very relevant , you can going as an environment management system auditor ISO 14001:2004 . Its very lucrative in the sense that you audit companies that carry out operations which impacts on the environment and make sure that they have good environment management system in place to manage waste and other effluents that will impact negatively on the environment, Oil coys comes to mind - because they are the major culprits ala oil exploration activities, a part from that it also helps companies to have sustainability processes and improve on it periodically you can work in oil companies, certification companies or for government agencies that are in charge of regulations pertaining to environmental issues. queend link=topic=301670.msg9963706#msg9963706 i have replied but spambot swallowed everything ![]() |

Hey Guys, I know this section is reserved for professionals in the aforementioned. Please pardonmy ignorance, obtuseness and impending derailment. I need someone to explain the following in simple terms. Pipes for Tubing 2-3/8" HCS, N80, 4.7LB/ft.R2. I'd also need information as to where to get them and cost. Thanks in anticipation |
