: INSENSITIVITY OF NYSC TOWARDS THE PLIGHT OF PART-TIME GRADUATES- OUR EXCLUSION LETTERS





Sometimes around November 2015, NYSC paraded some graduates who allegedly use fake exclusion letter to secure job unsuspected
The media houses swiftly swung into action not only by covering the event but making sure it made headlines on both print and electronic media within hours. It also went viral on social media. We are calling on the same media to now come to part-time graduates aid who NYSC is about to render jobless and made to lose their means of livelihood
Our university mobilized us for 2016 A to be excluded. We did registration online and paid as advised by NYSC since Feb 9, 2016.Though the registration ended on 25th Feb, 2016. We are hoping to have it printed immediately after registration ends as we were merely and simply going to be excluded, no camping nor service year for us. Hence, all the logistics issues associated with mobilization delay shouldn’t have affected us.
I am pretty sure NYSC has the robust technology capacity and personnel to make our letter available for us within hours after registration end but chose not to for reason known to them which we can conveniently refer to as wickedness. Yes! Wickedness, We have once signed on to our page sometimes in February and see the letter already prepared and dated 30th March 2016 but yet to be signed. If that could be done then, why not sign it and make it available for us and free us from this bondage.
Some of us have been on a contract staff cadre with our employers for close to decade and they are not comfortable keeping us on the same level anymore having claimed we have acquired additional qualification which we have even presented. NYSC exclusion letter is the only document pending for us to move on with our life and take us to the next level. Our school has done their part by sending our names, we have also done our part by registering and paid. NYSC should simply fulfill their part and not throw us and our family to agony of joblessness. Our employer gave us till end of 2015 but we pleaded for another 1-2 months which has already laps by ending of February 2016. We have to request for the last grace and chance coupled with undertaking that we’ll produced it my 30th March 2016 or we should be sacked relying on the time table earlier publicized and what we have saw. We simply don’t know our fate now, as series of appeal, pleading and begging mails have been sent to NYSC without single response. We don’t want to lose our jobs. While some of us also need the letter to conclude our postgraduate admission process
Unfortunately, those that were paraded last year were also afraid of losing their livelihood means before they unsuspected ran to fraudster hands who claimed to be NYSC staff.

We have decided to channel our predicament, issue, plead and appeals through same media to assist tell the NYSC and the whole world what we have suffered and still suffering. It’s a psychological trauma for us having our career hanging with NYSC and is not ready to release it on- time, as timing is as important as the certificate itself. We have family and dependants to cater for.

Honestly its painful! even we the full time are suffering from this trauma, myself become frustrated with the inconsistency in camping date. May God save us.
