DSS Takes Over Abia Forest With 55 Shallow Graves by ukomko: 12:39pm On Apr 10, 2016
The Department of State Services has taken over Umuanyi Forest near Aba in Abia State, where it said unidentified 55 shallow graves were discovered recently.

Not less than 55 identified persons were said to have been allegedly buried in the graves by members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra.

The DSS on Saturday accused the members IPOB of engaging in kidnapping and extrajudicial killings.

IPOB is being led by the Director of guerilla Radio Biafra, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, who is being prosecuted by the Federal Government for alleged treasonable felony.

The secret service further accused IPOB members of the kidnapping and killing of five Hausa-Fulani men whose remains it said were buried in the same forest.

But the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, another pro-Biafra group which rose in defence of IPOB, dismissed the allegations by the DSS as lacking merit and evidence.

A statement issued by DSS spokesperson, Mr. Tony Opuiyo, in Abuja on Saturday read, “Service has uncovered the heinous role played by members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra in the abduction/kidnap of five Hausa-Fulani residents, namely Mohammed Gainako, Ibrahim Mohammed, Idris Yakubu, and Isa Mohammed Rago at Isuikwuato LGA in Abia State.

“The abducted men were later discovered at the Umuanyi Forest, Abia State, where they were suspected to have been killed by their abductors and buried in shallow graves, amidst 50 other shallow graves of unidentified persons.

“Arrests and investigation conducted so far revealed that elements within the IPOB carried out this dastardly action.”

With this action, Opuiyo said it was pertinent to alert the general public that IPOB was gradually showing its true divisive colour and objectives, while steadily embarking on gruesome actions in a bid to ignite ethnic terrorism and mistrust amongst non-indigenes in the South-East region and other parts of the country.

Following this act, the DSS alerted that tension was currently rife among communal stakeholders in the state, with possibilities of spillover to other parts of country.

The agency warned that it would not hesitate to act decisively within its statutory mandate to ensure that the sponsors and perpetrators of “this action are apprehended and prosecuted for their crime.”

Efforts made by SUNDAY PUNCH to get IPOB to react to the allegation by DSS proved abortive, as the telephone line of the Director of Information of the group, Emma Powerful, which indicated that it was busy as of 8pm, indicated that it was switched off by 8:08pm.

When his alternative line was also called, it was switched off too.

However, the new leader of MASSOB, Uchenna Madu, in his response via a text message to one of our correspondents, stated that MASSOB and IPOB would remain undeterred on their agitation.

He said, “DSS allegation against pro-Biafra agitators lacks merit and evidence because MASSOB and IPOB are non- violent organisations. This is the highest frustration exhibited by Nigerian security agents against pro-Biafra agitators; they want to blackmail us as violent or terrorist group in order to get evidence against Nnamdi Kanu.

“MASSOB and IPOB can never be deterred or get jittery because of frivolous and baseless allegations by frustrated DSS. Why have they not raised eyebrow on several killings and destruction of properties by Fulani herdsmen?

“We advise Igbo governors to immediately summon a meeting of stakeholders on the menace of Fulani fundamentalists.”

A senior operative of the service, who was involved in the operation that led to the discovery of the graves and the forest, told SUNDAY PUNCH on Saturday evening that the forest had become a no-go area for unauthorised people.

The security agent said, “The forest has become a security zone. We have taken over the place. It is an offence to see people who have no business in the area for now.”

The source said the operation was carefully planned and executed by the security outfit.

“A Good Samaritan blew the lid on the killings that happened there and how people were hurriedly buried in the forest,” the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, added.

On how the identity of those buried in the graves would be known, the agent said the service might conduct an autopsy or find alternative ways to identify the corpses.

“I’m sure we would find a way of doing that (identification of corpses). If it requires that (autopsy) may be we would do it,” the operative said.

The source however refused to give the number of arrests that had been made, saying operation and investigation were ongoing.

Meanwhile, the Abia State Government on Saturday denied knowledge of shallow graves in any forest in the state.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Abia State Governor, Mr. Godwin Adindu, told SUNDAY PUNCH that the government would investigate the alleged discovery.

He said, “We don’t have such a report; there is no such report here. The DSS has not given us the report. We don’t have such information. Even within the populace here, nobody has raised such alarm.”

Forget Biafra, South-East APC leaders tell MASSOB, IPOB

The South-East chapter of the All Progressives Congress has urged all pro-Biafra groups in the zone to abandon the struggle for the secession of Biafra.

The call was contained in a communiqué issued after a meeting by the leaders of the South-East zone of the APC in Enugu.

The meeting resolved that the party’s leaders in the zone would meet with President Muhamadu Buhari over Igbo interests in the APC.

The communiqué, which was signed by the APC National Vice Chairman, South-East, Emma Eneukwu, and the Zonal Secretary, John Mkpuruka, said after extensive deliberations, the party’s leaders in the zone urged all pro-Biafra groups to have a “rethink” and abandon the idea of secession from Nigeria.

“We call on all the groups agitating for separation from united Nigeria, particularly the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra and Movement for Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra to rethink and abandon the idea and join other ethnic groups in building a formidable united Nigeria, where all Nigerians will be equally treated in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the communiqué read.

How Shekau’s ‘deputy’ was arrested —DSS

Meanwhile, the DSS on Saturday explained how it arrested Mohammed Usman believed to be second in ranking to Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau.

Usman, who was arrested on the suspicion of taking part in several terrorism crimes in the country, is also known as Khalid al-Barnawi, Kafuri, Naziru, Alhaji Yahaya, Mallam Dauda and Alhaji Tanimu.

He was said to have been arrested by the DSS on April 1 in Lokoja, Kogi State, while allegedly hiding under a false cover.

Al-Barnawi was said to be a founding member of the Jama’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid Da’wah Wa’l-Jihad (Boko Haram) and later the Amir of the break-away faction, Jama’at Ansarul Muslimim Fi Biladi Sudan (JAMBS).

Opuiyo described the suspect as a trained terrorist, who, he said, had coordinated many terrorist activities in the country.

He said, “Khalid Al-Barnawi is a trained terrorist commander, who has been coordinating terrorist activities in Nigeria, while talent-spotting and recruiting vulnerable young and able Nigerians for terrorist training by Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb in North African States and the Middle-East.

“The suspect was involved in many terrorist attacks in states of the federation, including Bauchi, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Sokoto and Abuja. This resulted in the killing and maiming of innocent citizens of this country.

‘Albarnawi is also responsible for the bombing of the United Nations building in Abuja on 26th August, 2011; the kidnapping of two European civil engineers in Kebbi State in May, 2011, and their subsequent murder in Sokoto State; the kidnap of a German engineer, Edgar Raupach, in January 2012; the kidnap and murder of seven expatriate staff of Setraco Construction Company at Jama’are in Bauchi State in February 2013; and the attack on Nigerian troops at Okene in Kogi State while on transit to Abuja for an official assignment.”

Opuiyo said the suspect would soon be charged to court to face his charges after investigations were completed.

While the fulani herdsmen are busy killing across the nation without any hinderance or prosecution.
This is not good for the unity of the nation.
But the worse is that Buhari's body language, words and actions are fuelling this nation's disintegration.
1,Not one word of condemnation of the acts of his kinsmen(the herdsmen). This in turn emboldens the herdsmen to further do more with the belief that their 'brother' is in charge. The security agencies usually watch and take cues from the body language of the leader. Hence they seem not interested in fighting these fulanis herdsmen.
2,The president's blatant and shameless declaration of non-inclusion of the 5% who didn't vote him will clearly move the regions involved to see themselves as on their own and thus fashion out ways to defend themselves and retaliate against any external provocation since they are now certain that no help will come from the president or his security agencies.

Maybe Buhari is the man the devil will use to disintegrate this nation.

By unraveling these graves where Nigerian Army secretly buried innocent Biafran protesters last year, I thank God the genocide of the Nigerian Army against Igbos are being exposed by the Daura Secret Service themselves.

How can they be making allegations and yet no substantial evidence to back up their claims. My advice to the Igbo nation, the South South, South West and the Middle Belt is that they should be prepared and sleep with one eye closed. The South-East chapter of the All Progressives Congress has urged all pro-Biafra groups in the zone to abandon the struggle for the secession of Biafra.

The report of DSS lacks merit and should be dismissed by any sane Nigerian. This is an attempt to divert attention from the Agatu massacre. Even staunch critics of IPOB cannot accuse the group of wanton killing and kidnapping.

Opuiyo should not allow himself to be used as a tool by this DSS.

The Law must take its course and there is no argument for anyone who has committed murder. Iys jail, since capital punishment has been abolished in Nigeria.
That notwithstanding, the cattle rearers who have been killing with impunity in LAGOS, Benue and some other parts of the country, what is going to happen to them. Are they above the law? Or do they enjoy a kind of protection or immunity we don't know about.

P. S. I don't care about tribe, be you Hausa, ibo, Yoruba, ipob, oodua or whatever. If you commit crimes against other citizens, you should be caught and made to face the music

A fierce battle is going on in Nigeria today between the Agents of Change and the Agents for the maintenance of status quo. It is one of the worst battles I have witnessed ever in Nigeria in recent times. It is a fierce battle for the soul of Nigeria between those who want their original country back and those who want to keep Nigeria as the conquered territory to be pillaged and milked with reckless abandon. It is a war between truth and falsehood, a war between darkness and light, the war between reason and unreason, and war between the brains and the brainless.

I saw this dangerous war coming even before last year’s Presidential elections when it became obvious that PDP is gone. I alerted APC leaders to be prepared for it. I did not know then whether they took notice of my warnings. It took the bizarre, the most outrageous, and the most treacherous betrayal inside the hallowed chamber of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by Senator Saraki and his gang for APC leaders to pay attention. Today the resultant effect of this betrayal is telling a big story in all nooks and crannies of Nigeria, laying ambush on this government’s monumental fight against corruption. PDP leaders, Senators, Lawyers, Judges, Petroleum Product Marketers, Civil Servants, Electricity workers, etc. are hitting from all corners to circumvent government efforts to take back Nigeria.

In far away Panama, a consortium of lawyers using their law firm Mossack Fonseca founded Ramon Fonseca, have been able to generate 11.5 million papers that linked government officials and looters across the world who siphoned money to Tax Haven in Virgin Island.

This leak, the biggest ever in recent history has led to the resignation of the Prime Minister of Iceland, Sigmundur Davio Gunnlaugsson. In Nigeria, one of the persons mentioned in the criminal deal is the present President of the Senate of Nigeria, Senator Bukola Saraki.

While the Mossack Fonseca lawyers worked tirelessly for years to do this great work for humanity, Nigerian lawyers, 90 of them are following the same Saraki to Code of Conduct Tribunal to render court process nugatory. Their professional colleagues in other climes are helping their countries to stop corruption but not these Charge and Bail lawyers here. They are neck deep into corruption and proceeds of corruption. They are worse than infidels.

The lawyers have been very busy searching for their birds of identical plumage in judges whether in High Court, Appeal Courts or Supreme Court to help truncate Saraki’s case. The corrupt Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria are not left out in this show of shame. From 81 right from the onset, the number of Senators following Saraki to CCT has reduced to 12 as at yesterday. Even with the heavy and weighty evidence before CCT, these woeful and useless Senators are still chasing shadows, making a mockery of themselves and people they represent. But the bigger they come, the harder they fall.

In the oil industry, the marketers and subsidy fraudsters are holding sway, gripping Nigeria by the throat and ready to squeeze without caring a hoot. In the power sector, the looters and their agents are working round the clock to reduce power generation to zero megawatts. If they are not pulling down transmission towers, they are busy blowing up gas supply to the power stations. I see this as an attack on the corporate existence of Nigeria as a political entity. I see this as a threat to national unity and cohesion. I see these attacks from all corners as acts of treason.

Now I do not think President Buhari and his cabinet need to offer any more excuses. I do not think it is necessary now. What is needed is a concrete and practical solution. President Buhari needs to use the enormous power of the presidency to do the needful. The economic saboteurs are so powerful so rich, well connected and potentially dangerous to set the people against the President if President Buhari still treats them with kid gloves. These people must be identified, crushed and defeated.
Nigerians voted for President Buhari to fight corruption, stop the drift in Nigeria, restore hope and build a new Nigeria. I know that the President is doing his best, and I also know he can do more. President Buhari must not fail. If he fails, Nigeria may not recover again. We must kill corruption or corruption will kill Nigeria.

APC leaders must move now to help their President to succeed. This is not the time for blame games, this is not the time to point accusing fingers, this is not the time to look the other way. This is the time for collective responsibility and concrete action. Let us fire on all cylinders now that we have a budget. Let Nigeria become a huge construction site. Let the power sector work. Let petrol flow endlessly for now. Let us secure Nigeria. I know that the change but let it start now to manifest. No further, no excuses again.

This is the problem with IPOB miscreants

So you think that the Nigerian Army has not improved its capabilities since 1970? Igbos are loudmouthed lunatics whose only weapons are their mouth.

Can you see the difference between the Nigerian Army under GEJ and the one under Buhari? Is it because Buhari employed more manpower? Or did he buy more ammunition? No

It is strategy and efficient leadership. The Biafra war would have ended in 3 months if Nigeria did not adopt diplomacy in an attempt to avoid mass casualties. Gowon should be deitified by Igbos because he showed a lot of restraint

Buhari has NO such patience. He likes quick, surgical and ruthless bloodletting. Thousands of IPOB will be killed in less than 3 days. Villages and towns will be pillaged and made desolate within a week. Remember that the government has a very efficient propaganda machine, they will manage the fallout and with the army of social media supporters, it will die down after a few days.

Igbos are mentally sick and twisted illiterates. They sent thousands of emails to US senators and HOR, of course they were ignored like leprosy but they wont learn their lesson

The WORLD cannot afford Nigeria to break up! Who wants a potential 200 million +BLACK refugees on their doorstep? The UK, the EU and the USA will NEVER support BIAFRA.

I am aware that slowpoke Igbos will mention Israel, China or Russia. First, Israel is not your friend, they hate all black people equally. They are commercially minded and will sell military equipment to the highest bidder. They will most likely follow American instructions.

China is expanding its investment portfolio in Africa and will not want the largest economy in Africa to break up. They are signing deals worth billions of dollars with the Nigerian government and businesses. They will not forego that because of IPOB stupidity.

Russia has its plate full in Syria. Putin is under pressure internationally and domestically. The pull factors (Oil resources) are no longer attractive. So no joy there.

IPOB continue killing Nigerians and you will face the consequences
