Please experts in HSE shd enlighten us on the normal oil gauge level. My mechanic told me it is OK for the oil level to b above d second mark on the gauge stick. My car is Camry '02 2.4L.

That second mark is actually the maximum point. You should not fill the engine oil above it but car engine manufacturers give room for a little margin above the mark.

Anywhere between the two markings is ideal but I the closer to the upper limit the better but never pass the upper marking....I think

Well bro, you're thinking is absolutely spot-on. You are correct, your response is what most manufacturers state in their respective Owner's Manuals.

In between the marks. Not over the second mark and not below the first mark. Its not a rocket science, owners manual is not for decoration

Just between the two marks

Never fill beyond the upper mark, simply because you don't know how much allowance the manufacturer has made for overfilling. an "experienced" mechanic once overfilled my car, and it starting "chopping" oil, and smoking because oil got into the chamber. Had to sell a nice car because of a simple mistake.

These days I personally measure the amount of oil I give the person servicing my car. Let them overfill their own cars.

It's called "factor of safety" but that doesn't mean you should fill it above that mark

I aim for right at the top mark.

The way I drive my oil is splashing all over the place and I want to make sure that the oil pick up tube is covered by oil all the time.

YMMV.

PS: Has anyone ran a dry sump system before?
