Ogun State has made a public presentation of the world’s tallest drums at Nigeria’s first Drum Festival. The 16 and 17 feet tall drums were unveiled by Ogun State Ministry of Culture and Tourism. According to the state Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Chief Muyiwa Oladipo, the drum, which was built by an indigene of the state, was built around Yoruba history and religion. I was hoping to see how much was wasted on this 'project'. Won't be surprised if it is enough to supply pipe-born water to at least 3 Ogun communities or a mini power project. Tourism is good, but not at the expense on basic amenities the people need. Papa road is almost impassable. Is this road not more important than this drum project? |
