Forget Project X, Nairobi’s most controversial bash is set to go down this Saturday at the Gravity Lounge night club. The free-entry gig has been organised by the newly registered Atheists in Kenya. “Without God!” reads the poster announcing the party for all atheists in Kenya to meet in public for the first time. The party will be taking place on Saturday, April 30 from 5pm at the night club, which is located on Kimathi Street at the heart of Nairobi. The poster was posted on the group’s Facebook page on Wednesday. The ‘ungodly’ party, if allowed to proceed, trounces what was earlier thought to have been the most atrocious party of the century, Project X. It was a party that had promised party lovers a whole night of rampant ratchetness, drug-indulgence and fun like none other. “Nobody will go home a virgin,” proclaimed Project X posters. The party was later cancelled by the police, who said they would not allow such a party where illegalities are committed. Atheists in Kenya recently threatened to move to court to challenge the government’s decision not to register their association on grounds that so doing will disrupt peace and order in the country. Principal State counsel of Societies, Maria Kanyiri, said registering Atheists in Kenya lobby poses a threat to peace and good order in the country. The group was, however, registered touching off protests from religious groups. Atheists in Kenya say their aim is to fight to protect the “absolute separation of religion from government and raise the profile of atheism in the public discourse”. cc: lalasticlala http://nairobinews.nation.co.ke/chillax/project-x-comes-no-god-party/ |
