Its a hot news making swaying that the duo of Tiwa and Teeblizz are considering quiting the marriage. Also in another twist, that TJ (Teeblizz) had suicidal thoughts, wrote suicide note and posts and even attempted suicide. All of this happened in a marriage of less than four years. Very pathetic!
Crisis in marriage could be as a result of insufficient and epileptic flow of money and fame, sexual pleasure and all. All of these can lead to depression.
Depression is a real illness that impacts the brain and cause dysfunctional behaviours. Depression can cause an imbalance in the body chemistry, anxiety, fear and so on. Losing a precious one is potent in that regard.
The World Health Organization characterizes depression as one of the most disabling disorders in the world, affecting roughly one in five women and one in ten men at some point in their lifetime. It is estimated that 21% of women and 12% of men in the U.S will experience an episode of depression at some point in their lifetime.
In Nigeria, there are insufficient data on depression and most of what are available are chunks of academic research. For example, in a study conducted by (Aguocha and Co and cited in International Journal of Clinical Psychiatry
2015), depression is reported to be common among resident doctors in Nsukka, Nigeria. Also, depression may seriously affect resident doctors’ professional functioning and may lead to serious impacts on health behavior of the community in general. More so, in a study conducted to determine the rate of depression among resident doctors in Tehran, Iran, it was reported that 31.2% of the total study population had symptoms of depression (26% of the males and 39% of the females). Symptoms of depression were 2.3 times more frequent in females. Unfortunately most of the depressed resident doctors had no history of psychiatric visit or treatment. Following from that, one can rightly posit that depression do not know bounds as it cut across professions, sex, religion and race.
Depression is alos identifieds as a core factor implied in why marriages are breaking up. For example, 2shot was reported to have maltreated his wife and suffered depression partially owing to the fact that the dude is going broke! Depression!
Anybody can be depressed. Nations can be depressed. In a sane society, depression is treated as a form of ailment whereas in developing countries depression is fiction.
With these view points, I can assert that depression plays a crucial role in why marriages are breaking up. The case of Tiwa and TJ just brings depression to the fore. A core observation I just made.
Thank you for your time!
Ps: Please, learn more on depression, support a depressed person and live happily. You only have one life to live, so do they!
Thank you
