The construction of a multi-million dollar agro-industrial park in Luweero, a district in central Uganda has been inaugurated. The project, which is funded by Chinese investors, is receiving encouraging cooperation between the Chinese and Ugandan governments. The construction of the park was marked with a ceremony attended by the President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, the country's Vice President, Edward Ssekandi, top government officials, and the investors involved in the project.

In his remark, Mr Museveni said the agri-industrial park, which is about 50 km north of Kampala, the capital of the country would promote production and increase income of farmers. He further stressed that his government had started building several industrial parks, which will be critical in transforming the economy. The investors involved said the park would focus on crop cultivation and processing, poultry and livestock, to meet local and regional needs. It is projected that the project when completed will create more than 25,000 direct or indirect jobs and will also help in the provision of world class training for local residents.
