Italian Job! Saudi Princess Robbed - $15 Million Plus

It's an Italian Job! In a story that certainly brings the phrase "international incident" to mind, a Saudi princess was robbed - the haul was $15 million plus and the items taken are described as "jewels and cash" at a ritzy Italian resort. Police have been cited in international news media as saying they believe it was an inside job.

The Associated Press made the case seem quite sexy with their headline, "Saudi princess robbed at posh Italian resort $15.5 million in cash, jewelry taken from room at Sardinia hotel." The only thing missing is Charlize Theron and a whole bunch of Mini-Coopers rolling through the streets.

The thieves were more like burglars, they used what is described as a "master key" to enter the room when the unnamed princess was away and then ripped a wall safe from the wall and made off with its contents. More information here from an earlier report from Jon Shanks and Ledger DC. How nice is this resort? It's beautiful, photos here from the Bangkok Post.

Right Bollywood has video of the hotel. The Associated Pressreports the gutsy thieves have moved on to other wealthy targets citing Italian media that "reported that robbers in recent days also have targeted a Moroccan businessman" in the upscale resort community.
