UGHELLI – MILITANTS in the Niger Delta region have continued their onslaught on oil installations in the area with the blowing up of the Chevron Valve Platform in Abiteye, Warri North council area of Delta State. The incident it was gathered occurred at about 10:40pm on Wednesday. Though the company’s Public Affairs Manager, Deji Haastrup could not be reached for comments on the incident, on official of the Department of Security Services, DSS who spoke on anonymity, confirmed the incident adding that the platform was totally destroyed with the use of dynamites.

The security source further hinted that the platform is a major connecting point where all other platforms link up and serves as a fulcrum to chevron BOP and the Chevron Tank farm thereby halting all operations of the company in the region. Claiming responsibility for the incident, the Niger Delta Avengers, a militant group in the region in a statement on Wednesday night, while attributing the incident to the effort of its strike Team 6, stated that attack on the facility is in line with its promise to the Nigerian government to cripple the economy.

The group which had earlier claimed responsibility for destroying the Forcados 48-inch Export Pipeline, also threatened to attack oil facilities in Lagos and Abuja, the nation’s capital. “We want to pass this message to the all international oil companies operating in the Niger Delta that the Nigeria Military can’t protect their facilities. They should talk to the federal government to meet our demands else more mishaps will befall their installations. “Until our demands are met, no repair works should be done at the blast site,” the group added.

Buhari & APC are creating 2 many enemies for themselves, there are some issues which doesn't need brutal force rather diplomacy but, Buhari thinks that everything is about Khaki & gun usage.

Funny thing is, what this people are doing will not affect the government house (there will still be light , food, air-condition, security, ad infinitum)
Its just normal citizen (millitants included) that will be affected.

I believe there is a matured way of resolving this issue than blasting pipelines, if they claim the oil companies pollute their land, vandalising pipelines will further increase pollution and it will more harm to their environment.

Who cleans it up later? should it be Government, the oil company or the vandals? me think the vandals should clean it up or it should be left like that.

I thought the FG sent the entire army and Navy fleet to the SS, to prevent this sort of attacks. I am with Buhari on this, this has to stop. I haven't had light for 3 days now, except temporary flashes. Now with this, my Generator will go on strike, with a instantaneous drop in fuel supply. This has to stop.

I believe Tompolo is behind this, but only Niger Delta Avengers, a fathom group as a cover up, so he can have deniabilty. But he knows the FG is trying to send the message to can decode that he's the one behind it, and believe the price he wants for peace is for the FG to back off from investigating or prosecuting him.

Whenever Gas/Oil pipeline is been vandalized, I expect the people in Niger Delta to feel the pains more than you in Lagos,

I am confused when all the complains, agony and cries keep pouring in from Lagos.

The 5% have spoken, since buhari choose not to carry every one along, then the oil resources from the area of the 5% percent will cease to flow.

I thought lagos and ondo are oil producing states, i thought lake chad(borno) and sokoto has oil, i thought agriculture and solid minerals are abundant in the north, i thought cocoa built lagos and southwest as a whole.

Why are you yorubas and fulanis/hausa crying more than the bereaved

That's a silly myopic defeatist way of looking at it. If the citizens suffer, they pile up pressure on the government, and make life difficult for them. Everywhere in the world, if the citizens suffer, government suffers. Stop making it sound like governance is an all expense paid holiday vacation. If it was that way, the government wouldn't be running helter skelter looking for solutions to the fuel scarcity.

For all those, that keep blaming the indigenous people of the South-South, when the militants blow up lagos pipelenes, I wonder what would be your response then

These are the same people that complain of power outage. I just wish power distribution is taken from the exclusive list and put in the concurrent list so that these people will suffer alone, not putting the whole country of part of it in darkness.
