Why is it that   you  cannot see " made in Nigeria products" in Supermarkets and Malls   overseas. I recently bought two shirts at a mall with Made in Bostwana Logo  tag and Made in Lesotho tag?  We don't have globally appealing finished products? Does it have to do with packaging or that our business leaders are bereft of ideas on globalisation. I think sometimes that our businesses are entangled with politics, look at Odimegwu NB PLC with 3rd term agenda, Ndi Okereke Onyiuke,Dangote,Adenuga ,Transcorp and rest of them.

I did not mean African wallmarts, I meant real big retail outlets like Wall Mart and co. I see South African Wine, and products, Egyptian cotton and date, Rwandan fabrics and arts,Lesotho and Bostwana clothing materials.

Modern economy does dwell on what's under your feet,  but what's in your head. South Africa is rich in resources too. Johanesburg is the only city in Africa profiled on Economist City Guide.

These are what the likely reasons are

You have to like yourselves/products before anyone does.

Lack of political will to market our products. Y should our leaders be interested in marketing what they will not benefit from, after all they benefit from one being marketed, (oil).

Tribalism. There are enough boys in aba making products being sold across West African countries even as far as Dubai. It is bought and sent back to Nigeria as made outside. Probably if they were from another part of 'Nigeria' they will get more attention.

Packaging. Poor packaging gets poor patronage.
