Which throws up more questions.

10 million naira transfers, to whom?He just told us he disguised his Nigerianess to get better bargains, so I assume his sellers are Cameroonians. That's an international transfer. We both know how that works and even the fastest takes 3 business working days and has lots of restrictions. Transfer just 1 million as an individual alone and your name would be flagged by EFCC. It is part of the anti money laundering act.

Also we have to understand most of these sellers are illiterate and unbanked and if you have ever been to any large agricultural market. It is a purely cash to goods business. Also, you can buy in bulk but there's a limit to the bulk buying. Just one person can never have 7000 baskets. You may have to pick 400 here, 300 there, 1000 from another. Which throws the hypothesis of transferring in bulk to one single person out of the window. So how did he pay them? Carried 56 or 70 million around?
Who was he transferring to then?

Also the tale about him sending J5s without escorts just opened his yansh. Yeah some Hausa biz men maybe trustworthy but you would be damned to send your goods without a motor boy whom you know from your side to follow them. The share scale of logistics involved would be amazing to pull off. It would be a nightmare .

Also you have to understand you pay duties on products to and fro Nigeria. Cameroon is not jus adamawa that you stroll over and they just allow you take produce out like that.

There are so many loopholes in his story that anyone that scratches the surface would know this is impossible and more like fairytale.

I guess he would have his audience who believe all these stories though, since most of his followers are just out of school or naive undergraduates who have no idea whatsoever.
He went to cameroun but he is just lieing about the 6500 basket,i'm sure he bought less than a thousand basket,In Nigeria, you dont trust business men, they'd never tell you the actual truth

Now this is the best thread ever!!!! See me calculating like it's my money grin I'm inspired.

Lessons:
1. Follow market trends.
2. Be bold.
3. Get help
4. Get money, coz na money dem dey take find money o! Baba God o!

Some of the calculations are just mind blowing, consider this one:

150 baskets in one J5
There are 7000 baskets
Therefore we have 47 J5s

Just imagine 47 J5s moving in a convoy!

He is leading people to the abbyss, use your brain he is lying! he is talking about cameroun not Nigeria, this is why you see some business men successfull and see the beginner go bankrupt,it's simply because those that are successfull are not telling the truth,if you are a business man you will realise this is just a tale,a lady screwed over 20 nairalanders last year of over 50 million naira with this same tomatoes/onion story
he is talking about 7.200 baskets about 50 fully loaded trucks and a naira transfer to cameroun from a savings account

At the emboldened, this is more than possible. I send trucks from different parts of the country down to Lag without escorts and nothing happens. Risky I take it but there's like an unwritten code of conduct amongst drivers, especially the ones you get through Dan Commissions. Your goods are safe. Risky but possible. Love your skeptical approach though!

My sincere advise to the OP @Ymodulus, please do not collect any money (or be tempted to) from anyone (especially from Nairaland) to do this business on their behalf. Business is not for the faint-hearted especially when dealing with perishable goods/commodities.

Also this business is seasonal (the law of demand and supply applies) and therefore the profit/loss potential will vary based on the season when the trade takes place.

Protect your integrity.

I laughed and smiled at the ignorance displayed by the guy(s) that doubted your story. If not the fixation on oil and gas, Nigeria would have been an agricultural giant.

Peterwins in every other climate, getting investors into your business won't be a tough thing. But this is Nigeria, where there is little legal recourse. Nor everyome can run into business themselves. People have a right to be sceptical. I'm currently speaking to someone whom her job is to invest on behalf of her clients (she's handled large portfolios and her last big investment was in Mining and Solid Minerals) and I've been looking for some agro businesses to invest it and help expand the business by linking them to my contacts. Nothing has come up clean. I guess I'll keep looking.

Agriculture in Nigeria is a gold mine. For example, Just imagine the potential for rice farmers, millers, etc if the FG totally bans the importation of rice with customs check-mating smugglers . We have arable land, good climate and huge domestic market (consumption) to sustain local production.

Well, Dangote isn't sleeping: http://dailypost.ng/2016/04/06/kaduna-investment-summit-dangote-to-invest-10million-in-tomatoes-plant/

As the two-day Kaduna Investment Summit opened Wednesday, Chairman, Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, disclosed that his company will be investing $10million in tomatoes production in Kaduna State.
Dangote, who was represented at the summit said apart from contributing to economic fortunes of the state, the company would also improve standard of living of tomatoes farmers as well as create thousands of direct and indirect jobs for Kaduna populace.

Day3: Bauchi State / Jos.
- We woke up safely without been hurt by any herdsmen. They are lovely people. We drank live Cow Milk . i touched  cows easily and we all talked. We gave the fulanis N10,000 as a token of appreciation and then bidded them fairwell. They even saw us off through the bush down till we got a vehicle.

- We took a vehicle and headed straight to Bauchi to a town calles  Til De Fulani. This we did all to no success. In the town we were advice to go to another called Maga-Mungo Man. We went from Maga - MungoMon Village  to Gada to Angwari. All to no success.

- Same day we went to Borno State cause we heard we will be able to get in large quantity there. All these was to no success.

- Right in Borno State roughly about 30mins. We got to hear from another "Tomatoes Delale" in Lagos Mile12. That we can get tomatoes in Republic of  Cameroon. We asked him if he was sure, he confirmed to us that he was. He further added that 400basket of tomatoes came in from cameroon.

- This weekend us. my friend IzikJon said he couldnt continue on the trip. I told him not to worry. We both went back to Jos had a nice bath and went out to relax ourselves at Resort. All with the intention of travelling to Republic of Cameroon the Next Day.
if you want to buy tomatoes in Kaduna I can link you to farmers that will sell you their goods without engaging with dillale (dealerr) in gubuchi area of makarfi LG

Let us even assume he has the funds.

He has stated he used FBN, Gtb and diamond.

I operate a Platinum Card for one of these banks and the maximum Dollars I can transfer, cash or even use over POS or at is $5000 per month and $30000 a year.

So how was he able to move over 70 million naira. That's like $250,000 between Nigeria and Cameroun. Gtb or Diamond does not have a branch there neither FBN and you wouldn't for the love of Satan dare move such amount across ikom. If there is any axis so dangerous for road robbery after Kaduna-Zaria-Kano that axis would take the cake. I have experience with people buying bananas in Cameroon so I am talking from a point of clarity not ignorance.

He would do well to clarify such.
This is pure ignorance, this aint bananas, it's a large scale transactions.
In international biz like this most farmers sells to contractors, you can't just walk to the farm to get the product yourself, you buy thru organised dealers.
The contractors (market heads, dealers etc) acts as intermediaries btwn the buyers and the farmers.
However, wtf said they can't transfer N100m?! Those peeps can manoeuver money dexterously. I.e they do have multiple bank accounts for seemless transactions.
Don't be suprised if you brought a fidelity bank card and they provide you with fidelity bank accounts.
It is possible bro.

Oga. Continue Garnishing lies with half truths.

Over 70million naira in like 3 days on tomatoes purchases? Not impossible but suffery suffery. Gafara anya...

I like entrepreneurs but don't give people false hope here. There is money to be made in purchase and sale of agricultural products but even at that, it is not that easy as you seem to be portraying it here.Even the sheer amount of constraints you would go through during interbank transfers from Nigeria end route Cameroun is enough to run you amock on such large transfers.

You are very funny.

You know nothing about demand and supply. Moreover you cannot do what you have never thought of.

Hello,

I have been following Ymodulus's Thread, and I will understand why Businessmen dont tell people how they make money. I personally may not want to tell because you are going to bend some laws.

About the money transfer process in this particular Tomato thing, do you know something they call Hawala?...I can help you transfer 10 million dollars to any location in the world, and you will get the money in 5 minutes..

So, Its actually a cakewalk for Ymodulus to move millions across the border seamlessly.

About the Logistics of the 7000 baskets, and not following the vehicle, let me tell you something, Trust is crucial in Business, there is no way you can really scale without taking the risk of Trusting someone or a system..its that simple.

I have delivered Tens of Trailers of 900bag/Trailer Dangote Cement to Clients that did not mobilize me, have never seen me all seamlessly. It should also interest you that MY supplier has never met me before, and I never gave him a dime before he did all those deliveries on my behalf...While it might seem risky, It was all based on TRUST.

The people you collaborate with to do business must be people of very high personal integrity, From your Clients, to Yourself, To your Suppliers.

So I am not surprised that Ymodulus was able to do all these without breaking a sweat.

I am only surprised that he actually gave details of how he did it.
