Speaking as a PDP opponent....I regard the decision to remove subsidy back in 2012....as the right decision. It is even needed now that we do not have the money to sustain it.

The budget was before them for some months. Minister of Petroleum was also in the chamber for his ministry defence. They could have asked him all necessary questions when they realise subsidy was not budgeted for.

Because as at that time the subsidy difference was no more than one naira and it was on government favour. At a point government get 6 naira for every litre of fuel you buy.

Right now, the subsidy difference is still not up to 10 naira. We are only pay so much more because CBN wanna withdraw from giving importers of fuel dollars at197 naira. They assume they will get dollars in black market at abt 285 naira. So the 145 naira per litre is to cover unofficial dollar rate.

I believe a sensible government would handle the Niger Delta situation with caution as most of our oil production emanates from that region. That's what Buhari has done.

I find it worrying that the finance minister who balances the books is not in anyway part of this subsidies episode at least to give us a break down of how the numbers add up.
Either the house is not taking a holistic approach to the root causes of fuel subsidy removal or she has been warned to stay mute so that Kachukwu will carry the weight alone.
This administration is fantastically complicated.

Well, if subsidy was a scam there are marketers demanding their money now and some uneducated Nairalanders are blaming the government for removing subsidy when there's debt on ground. I accept it's scam but there are people behind this scam and they are people that praying the refinery project fails, they can't be overlooked in my opinion. You can call them the cabals but this move of subsidy removal has crippled them.

I really don't think anyone would want to sell at N90 or N95 considering the CBN exchange rate and the fact that marketers would want to exploit the situation. But the good part of it is the sales limit of N145. Maybe, just maybe, a strong competition would make fuel stations bring their prices down. A typical example is, if you sell at N135 and i sell at N145, i'm sure you will be taking most of my 'customers.'

To your 2nd question, there will be little or no queue at our petrol stations and the product will be very available. As concerning meters been adjusted, well, that's a Nigerian factor we're talking as i'm sure that many of them have fuel in their tanks before the pronouncement.
