Studies suggest that babies of mothers who consume as few as two alcoholic drinks a week may experience neonatal withdrawal syndrome ( tension, restlessness, stomach upset, inability to be comforted).

Other studies have demonstrated that if a woman drinks two normal-sized drinks a day, her baby will weigh, on the average, six ounces or not all.

In light of these studies, I would strongly recommend that women abstain from drinking during pregnancy.
