Today,a customer care rep. called me cus i filled in a form requesting for 3g activation.

Once i saw the nmbr i new immediately it wasnt an ordinary nmbr it ended with bout 6 zero's.

She told me up front that ZAIN 3G IS ONLY FOR POSTPAID SUBCRIBERS,thats why when u choose UMTS mode on ur phones,d 3g service coms 4 a sec then goes away leaving ur phone without service.

I told her bout a 3g sim that c.care peaps sell,

She replied,what they are doing its nt PERMITTED by zain,those sim are for ppl who PURCHASE ZAIN DATA CARD ONLY an nt for any1.
She also zain 3g covers almost 88% of lag bt cn only b seen n used by POSTPAID subscribers only.

that's very true.

What she told you might be in theory,but not in reality.i know of a lots of people that are not postpaid subscriber,but are using zain 3G.am just waiting for them to land in Ibadan first.

Most ppl say they c 3g icons on the phone for a secs,then it goes aways.
Ths means its thr bt ur ntwrk plan(prepaid)DOESNT SUPPORT IT.

Zain 3g coverage are VERY strong in most l.g.a's in lag,abj n ph, said the lady.

Try it, ,if u hav frnds in lag who use 3g,u come. , AND SEE IF U WILL ALSO GET THE SERVICE.

Infobaba is using zain 3G likewise Dragnet,are they postpaid subscriber?i don't believe all those stuff.with my N95(machine) when zain 3G gets to Ibadan i will use it and even show you screen shots.Even Tobs uses zain 3g.whenever he gets to Ibadan it changes to Edge,so,what are we talking about here?

Same thing for me as well when I chose 3g it comes up and lasts for 2 secs and back to no signal. Personally I think the reason why they chose to make it post paid is because of fbt(them no wornt make ina run dem).

why is mine showing Edge too?I bought my own sim since the dayz of Vmobile.what about that?

Every kinda sim can show edge(normal sim and 3g)
For 3g, if ur ina 3g coverage area,it DROPs EDGE AND USE 3G

For normal sim, even ur ina 3g area,it wil keep using edge,cus ur sim aint 3g supported.

LOL.one thing that i believe is that,i will use my normal zain sim and browse on 3g and even show u the screen shot.Just take that from me ok.

i feel dis is a new developement
for an example take dia data card which was 1st released was just huawei modem n unlocked but recent cata cards in town now r zain branded n locked to dia network
i feel dey just started dis new strategy in oda to reduce d no. of pips using zain3G n fbt

If there are guys using 3g with prepaid option the main question is how do they do it? You guys should be lucky you even have edge me I just get 3g phone to put for pocket I no fit use the service what a waste. All I know is that one day z3 is going to go prepaid and I will surely ruin their network with my frequent downloads.

from berger down to V.I (the signal dey there).
one thing 've noticed bout the sim is that i cant call out but i can receive,
've only once loaded credit on the sim (terrible me)

we don't get ordinary gprs in Portharcourt, not to talk of EDGE or 3G. when you search for UMTS you can see the the network but it's not accessible. Zain, do we need special SIM for gprs too?
