I wrote the last line
The very last
With a broad smile on my face.
‘Heys! Number five’, was the next thing I heard.
I did what I had to do ( you know naa, winks),
And I headed to submit.

You know that feeling when it’s your last paper and you feel you
have murdered it?
Yes that! That is exactly how I felt.
I walked out of the hall like
James Bond at the end of a mission
All that was missing was a theme song
I even aimed for the dustbin and made a basket
Btw, that was my docket lol.

Five weeks it was.
Exactly five!
I was chatting away when
I got a message; Results were out!
I smiled to myself, having remembered what I wrote.

But still, part of me was nervous.
Standing in front of the notice board,
My eyes raced through all the names in search of mine.
Oh there! There it was.
Ghen Ghen!!!
My name…….
‘Jesu! What is this?’, I exclaimed.
I couldn’t feel my feet, I was helped to a seat.
Lobatan!

The person next to me said
‘Cheer up! It can’t be that bad.’
All I remember saying was:
‘I read naa… I did.
After all my over-nights,
My GP is dancing kon kon below, that Lagbaja song.’
Those were lines from my book of lamentations

I told him what it was exactly.
He looked at me furiously and said,
‘Shey na kon kon below be that ni?’
‘You know the part of the song that says;
“Isale e le e le, gan gan,”
Na my own be that.’
I couldn’t help but laugh.
‘Werey rey o!’,
I thought to myself.

But it dawned on me.
We’re all in different capitals but the same state.
Btw, I salute everybody on the first class street,
Or those a corner or two away.
In fact, shout out to everyone.
I know it isn’t easy!
