My most distinguished Nairalanders, i'ld appreciate your candid opinions on how lucrative and marketable studying Human anatomy as a course in Nigeria can be. I'm studying this course presently in a Nigerian university. Although it wasn't my most preferred choice at first, i like the course to some extent but that was before i started having fears about the near impossibility of getting a job preferrably in a hospital as a graduate with such a course. I've been told that i either end up a lecturer or end up in the mortuary(not as a corpse o) in matters of autopsy, embalming et al. how true is that? Can't i have a place like a lab scientist,surgeon,radiologist, etc in a hospital? If not, can i still go back to specialised medicine? I look forward to seeing answers to this questions as you tell me everything you're sure of as far as this course is concerned. Thank you.

All I will say is that all you have heard about the future of those who study Human Anatomy is partly true; with regards to lecturing etc. Also, your aspirations to get more is achievable. You can always specialize in any area that has to do with the human body.
Autopsy, radiology, surgery, medicine, histopathology,forensic etc.

Just aspire to get good grades in your first degree, and pick out an area of interest in the various fields of anatomy.
