Former President of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association (MACBAN), Alhaji Bello Ardo, has said that the Fulani have a right to move freely and conduct their business across the nation’s landscape.

Ardo said this in challenge of Ekiti state Governor Ayodele Fayose’s order prohibiting herdsmen from rearing cattle in any part of Ekiti State.

According to Ardo, there are areas in Ekiti and other parts of Nigeria that have been gazetted by the Federal Government as designated areas for cattle grazing.

“He does not have the authority to ban cattle-grazing in Ekiti. Fulani will challenge it in court.

“He does not have any right to ban designated grazing areas in Ekiti; there are grazing areas all over Nigeria and those grazing areas are gazetted by the Federal Government.

“He does not have the right to say that Fulani cannot rear cattle through the forests; we are going to challenge this in court.

“We are only just hearing the news but very soon, we will challenge it appropriately,” Ardo said.

Every state has a right to allow or deny herdsmen access to her territory.
Not all herdsmen are evil but one has to be careful. When boko haram started, northerners treated these issues with kid gloves until it started to torment them. They knew the members but protected them until they became uncontrollable. As far as I'm concerned, Northerners grew, groomed and nourished boko haram.
Here in the south we will not tolerate any act of terrorism especially from the north. We have our own issues to deal with.
They ask why we reacted differently to the kidnap of amina and ese ? The answer is simple;
Northern terrorists kidnap their northern schoolgirls in their northern territory and we Southerners can only show our concern(#bringbakourgirls ) and caution the north.
Northern assholes kidnap southern girls from southern territory and we will in orubebe's words , not take it.
States which can monitor the herdsmen can let them roam. If fayose cannot guarantee the security of his state from herdmen, he has every right to ban them from the on set to avoid stories that touch. people learn from their mistakes but smart people learn from other's mistakes.

shocked shocked

Jokers!!!

I use this medium to appeal to Gen. Mohomodu Buhary to immediately open up the captured Sambisa Forest for the Nigerian brand of herdsmen to start grazing, while the "Herdsmen from Libya" would be taken care of by our hunters.

Thank you.

People should try and understand when they read. Fayose never banned cattle rearing in Ekiti state, what he banned is moving about with hoardes of cattle. He made it clear that whoever wants to rear cattle in the state should own a ranch, simple.

In other words fulani herdsmen have lands designated for them in every state to run their personal business and its their right to graze anywhere in the country, this guy must be high on cow dung...

The most annoying part is our C in C sudden silence about this issue and even going as far as claiming this terrorist herdsmen are from libya...

Its high time other states emulate fayose to send this "libyans" to their early grave if they dare attack any community/village again...

I see a genocide coming and the cause will be the utterances of this so called fulani herdsmen...SMH

Dear Mr Fulani herdsman, please kindly take your cows to Ado-Ekiti and see what happens next. It is foolish of you to hide in Kano and be beating your chest to a man in Ekiti. Carry your cows go Ekti and prove that you are the true son of your blood sucking father. IIIIDIOTS.

When the federal govt took over all the land in the country via the Land Use decree many people did not complain as it did not affect them. The main reason the FG did that was to take control of the oil in the south which was then mainly onshore.

No that the same laws are being used to seize land for cattle grazing people are starting to make noise. I hope you can all know see what happens when you allow one injustice to occur, over time it simply breeds more injustice.

What is happening with the Herdsmen needs to be a wake up call to South. The North is over populated and the Sahara is rapidly encroching on their land. They are going to start moving south in ever larger numbers. This is just a fact. I will not be surprised if in a few years time, we see the FG allocate lands in the south for 'The resettlement of victims of climate change'. These people are very very cleaver and they think long term. If we don't resist this evil so called grazing bill and give full support to people like Faysoe, then one day we'll wake up and find whole areas in the South have been carved out for others and now have Emirs. Southerners shine your eyes!!

"Pikin wey say him mama no go sleep, him sef no go sleep".
"When a bird learns to fly without landing, the Hunter learns to shoot without aiming".

If you say he has no right to ban cattles from roaming in his state as the chief executive/security officer, then you should also know that you guys have no right to kill, destroy and encroach on other people's properties.
Besides why the so much noise,I thought ur grand patron PMB said u guys are from Libia.tongue

Any Fulani herdsman that misbehaves should be severely dealt with or killed, since they are illegal immigrants causing mayhem in our nation(according to PMB).

The constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria guarantees freedom of movement of persons and movable goods to any part of the country, so Mr Fayose will have to find another way to solve this madness

project50:
yes even armed rubbers have freedom of movement ...how old are u

So far they haven't been convicted and placed in prison, yes they have right of freedom of movement, as per your second question, I'm old enough to know it's spelt as "armed robber".
Cheers

andyanders:

I am highly disappointed over your statement as if you reason with your anus
. Guarantee of freedom and movement, does that mean that one should move his/her cattle to destroy people's farmland? If you do not understand that animals are not to be allowed to stray into anybody's property, then you are not yet developed.
Fayose is right here by whatever means he wants to use to stop these animals called herdsmen from doing what they are doing to the lives of Nigerians.

Your need to hurl insults like a caged chimpanzee flinging excrement waters down any efficacy of your argument. "I yump am pass"

Shewunoshewa:

Yes they are free to move but not constitute nuisance to the larger society.
By grazing indiscriminately, they constitute a nuisance to the larger society.
Lagos state banned grazing a long time ago. Before then, cows used to roam the streets and highways of Lagos.
Ekiti state can do the same.
So also other states.

I agree with you on most of your points especially constituting a nuisance on any federal or state property e.g highways. Farmlands is a no go area as nobody has the right to feed his livestock on another's 'sweat' without a pre arranged contract, however no state government can ban Nigerians from access to their states. A's for the Lagos issue, limiting the activities of herdsmen to the outskirts was the case.

What the government is doing here is a fireman approach, we must however mount pressure on the government to aggressively tackle deforestation and provide adequate ranches and educate the herdsmen, main point being nomadic cattle grazing isn't a culture but an outdated farming technique which should be replaced with modern ranches. After all, cows trekking makes the beef so tough, you literally need a toothpick each time you eat Nigerian beef.
