KADUNA – The Kaduna state government has enacted a law that makes it a criminal offence for any person that buys from a street hawker, making both the hawker and buyer liable for prosecution.

The Spokesman of Kaduna State House of Assembly, Nuhu Goro Shadalafiya, who made this known to newsmen in Kaduna yesterday said, Governor Nasir El-Rufai should be credited for new act passed last month.

The member who also spoke against the allegation that the 34-member KDHA have been compromised with new exotic cars, said that the cars were for the official works of the 34 Chairmen of the 34 committees of the House as every member of the House chairs a committee.

Nigeria as a nation is premature for such law. It is a good law when the unemployment rate is approaching zero percent.

The law is good, though the penalty is a bit extreme.

But then again, that is the only language Nigerians understand.

El Rufia is going insane, he is anti people.

I wonder how some of the so called leaders reason, how does he expect a pure water hawker to rent a shop?

Please, I just want to ask an innocent question.

WHAT HAS THE POOR PEOPLE OF KADUNA STATE DONE WRONG TO THEIR GOVERNOR.



Honestly, this country is not yet ripe for this type of law, let's just face the truth.

This midget has come again with his anti people policies.. Well, 90 percent of his people wanted change, let them flex.

How I wish I lived in Kaduna State. The cure for el-Rufai's hate for the poor street hawkers is simple.

The masses should form alliance with activists, civil society groups and labour union in solidarity and with hawkers, in the spirit of civil disobedience, for en-masse patronage of street hawkers henceforth.

By the time the prisons, courtrooms and police cells are overwhelmed by arrested persons the law would be abolished.
