They do not observe 30, is just your illusion, the northern muslim observe their fasting by sighting the moon and thats prior to the fixed date by southerner, the day of idil fitr for the north will be 29 of the south and the following day they celebrate the eid. It is 29, but may be some few segregated fellow among the southerner make it 30 i don't know. The end of ramadan comes to an end by sighting the new moon

Actually, the sighting of the moon brings in every month, Islamically. The day beginning at the setting of the Sun, usually for muslim. This is probably that a new moon is likely to be more visible, at first, and not during the glaring of the sun, in the day, even if the moon was beginning to show.

The month of Ramadan is ushered-in in this fashion of the birth of new moon. It may be possible that it is seen first by the people in the north for many reason, because of the open sky country that is more likely to be in there than the clustered south. Nonetheless, most and indeed all africa and beyond shares the same night. Not only north and south of Nigeria, but all africa and indeed the whole world should start the fast together, since we share the same month of ramadan, under the religion ordained by Allah, being completed to process on Muhammad (as).

If we follow the tradition of the Messenger, we must not forget that the whole "world" of Islam had him as their Messenger/Prophet and listened and accepted his commands. Muhammad (AS) started a fast or announced the end of the fast by an ordinary man, a muslim coming up to him stating that he saw the moon. Allah's messenger simple asked him to recite the kalimah "Ashaduala ilaha ilallah wa ashadu an na Muhammadanr Rasulullah" (AS).

South and North of Nigeria Muslims need to know that Islam is more than each of them, or both of them combined. The aught to come together as part of the worldwide community of Muslims. Tribalism, and all the isms have no place in the islam of Muhammad (AS). God consciousness is what determines how individual is valued by the Creator.

Fasting in month of Ramadan must never be fewer than 29 days, and can never be more than 30 days. It is report that Ramadan month during the lifetime of the nobliest of prophets (AS) Muhammad bin Abdallah (AS), was more 29 days than the few times it was 30, if at all. It is a means of Mercy by Allah on the Ummah.
