Lagos Government To Set Up Rice Plant In Kebbi by Abatsam111(m): 2:01am On Jun 05, 2016

The Lagos State Government is to set up a rice factory equipped for handling 20 metric huge amounts of rice every hour in Kebbi.

Gov Akinwumi Ambode, made the revelation in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday while tending to newsmen toward the end of his one day official visit to the state.

He said this was as a component of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) marked between the state and Kebbi State Government.

The representative, who was went with on the visit by Mexican financial specialists, said the factory would be finished inside six months.

He said the MoU was to reinforce the drive to end the importation of rice and guarantee nourishment security.

Ambode said the coordinated effort would likewise empower the two states give livelihood to their abounding populace and enhance income era.

He said the MoU included coordinated effort on creating domesticated animals, fish, sorghum and groundnut.

Win-win for both states... Kebbi is producing 1 million tonnes of rice right now... This will create jobs for Nigerians in Kebbi and boost Lagos revenue base...

this is a welcome development
local production of the most consumed food by Nigerians in Nigeria, thus reducing importation greatly, reducing the demand for forex

It should be limited to-

- providing the enabling environment for PRIVATE investors
- regulations
- TAXATION.

Government should ensure that ALL children are in school to have SKILLED workers of different levels to entice PRIVATE investors

This is the collaboration I want to see among south east governors. Pool your resources together to harness your areas of advantage.

Eg, I don't want to see the coal in Enugu getting wasted when the governors can actually come together to put it into good use.

I hear states will start extracting their solid minerals soon. When that happens, they shouldn't wait for FG. ENSG should harness the coal for power generation and employment creation or it should be a regional effort.

In summary, we need more collabo of this sort.
