The Nigeria Customs Service have a new Comptroller General amidst high hope and enthusiasm as Dikko Inde Abdullahi MFR was decorated as the Comptroller General of Customs.

The former Comptroller General of Customs Dr. Bernard-Shaw Nwadialo in a farewell speech, thanked officers and men of the Service for their co-operation which enabled him to record modest achievements within his short tenure as the CGC.

Dr. Nwadialo said his achievements among others include port decongestion, blocking of revenue leakages and repositioning of the Service for improvement remuneration through presentation to the National Assembly.

Responding immediately after his decoration, by the representative of the Honorable Minister of Finance, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku Kibo, a Permanent Secretary in the Ministry and Professor Hassan Abba, a member of the Nigeria Customs Service Board, the new CGC thanked the President and Commander-in-Chief, Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’Adua GCFR, the Honorable Minister of Finance, Dr. Muhtar Mansur for the confidence reposed in him.

While promising not to fail in the discharge of his duties, he called on officers and men of the Service to see his appointment as a challenge to demonstrate resilience and co-operate to effectively carry out the statutory functions assigned to the Service.

The finance minister is one Muktar from Kano state. Remi Babalola is a minister of state in finance ministry which is just a junior minister with little or no power.
