The government yobe state is one of the states that takes healthcare very seriously. The pay for health workers is very fantastic with great facilities for them to do their jobs. indigenes who pursue medical degrees are highly encouraged, right from medical school they are put on monthly salaries up to 170k all the way till after Nysc after which they continue to work for the state government . I once visited their doctors estate and was marvelled this is Nigeria. so tastefully furnished that all you need do is just carry your clothes and move in, every other thing right to plasma screen, refridgerators etc is all inclusive including 24/7 light.

I wonder if its the same allocation all other states receive from the FG.

is it a crime to build a hospital with 4 to 5 floors in Nigeria? Does this look like a world class hospital?

Our bane in this country is poor maintenance culture. Let's hope the govt has put measures in place to ensure the hospital doesn't become an eyesore in just a few years.

You people take this maintenance issue too far. There are many facilities around the country that are well maintained. Unless you don't move around.

In as much as I agree with you, we must also bear in mind that it takes qualified medical personnel to run such facilities. And then again we must begin to look critically at the maintenance culture of Nigerians. Many of such facilities built years back are now eyesores. We must begin to imbibe strong maintenance cultures so that public facilities can last longer and remain in excellent conditions.

But I must say this....


There is nothing "ultra-modern" about the facilities there. They are just average. Judging by technological advances in medicine now, 'ultra modern' has gone beyond a 64slice CT scan, theartre table, ave. anesthetic machine, etc.

If the place should be called "ultra modern", they should boast of Laser therapy, MRI unit, and other facilities for minimal access surgeries, wch is where the world is heading to now.

All I'm saying is that the govt. should see the bigger picture
