Do u hv any of ur jobs on youtube? U cld post d link here lets see. I use d CAT rig bcuz i want to get rlly gud animating not bcuz i like it. Custom bones wi all doz wirings n scriptings stil remains d best option for any 3d animator. Tho it might b hard to setup or take time, d result is an overkill. For facial xpressions, i dnt even know y ppl wld prefer boning to morphs. It's slower n i dnt tink they'll get d xpressions rt n even if they do, d time for dat, i dnt hv.
My days wi d cat rig is almost over. Once i create my fight animation, dats it. I just use it cuz it stores data easily n very quick to setup. Overall, it's a very gud way to begin learnin animation wi.

Ok back to topic n dis might b d final piece from me unless of cuz thr r questions.
U here ppl talkin abt making money in animations n blockbusters etc. Diz tinz dnt happen over9t. If u look closely, thr's a sort of sacrifice tied to thr for it to yield dat much profit. Thr's sacrifice in form of effort, quality n resource. If u can animate well, gud for u as it saves u some money. If u cant bt u hv eyes for detail n u want quality den u'll spend more. If u dnt hv any of d 2 den forget blockbuster. Story line n mktg will help to some xtent but if u talking about solidfying n building on success like d "despicable me" or "hotel transilvania" franchise then u shld seriously be thinking abt animating well for u or ur studio personel. Mktg n story just puts d icing in d process. Finally u need some money to mk more money in animations bcuz u'll need to promote ur work somehow to get to d audience.
So dats it, all d tips for making money in animations.

I haven't created a youtube account yet, I want to create about 3 demo first before I launch them on youtube, am not new in 2d animation but new in character animation in 3D though have being lying low since 3yrs now, I agree with you that custom bones rig looks best in 3d character animation but calculating those FK and IK input take way much time if you have a limited time to work on a project, the CAT plugin can achieve same result in less time since the calculation has already being done that why I prefer the CAT rig, you know how 9ja is, 3d animation is suppose to foster several areas of specialisation but here in 9ja you would to learn it all from modelling, texturing, UVW mapping, rigging to animation. am working on a short comedy demo presently with 2d/3d environment. would paste the link on Nairaland when am through with it

Animation industy is still quite low in Nigeria, most animators are self taught and a few were taught in some computer institute, Animation is quite a serious business in developed countries and its also a degree course in some universities abroad.For animators to make good money in Nigeria, just as you've said money need to be invested in it and also animators must come together to create something wonderful... working as individual will take way too long to achieve something and the work will probably not be perfect because it wont be criticise by professional before its launched, also, the animation industry need other fields to foster, it needs good script writers, sound composers, investors/sponsors, producers, studios, voice actors ...etc, all this will limit an individual who is working on a project alone (we can't have all as an individual), So in my opinion all the needed factors must come together and work together to make money in animation and serious money would also be spent in the production process

Coming together is not d problem. I hv a friend i partner wi n he rendered d last animation shot i did. I respect him, he respects me n we know our bounds. Still he does his thing n is very gud at it. The problem wi artists r egos n levels. Here u'll find some1 dat dznt hv d know how asides reading books telling u wats not. Animation is not to b theoritized. U know a walk cycle so wat? Hv u animated it? Afta dat wat nxt hv u done?
Again, jus bcuz sm1 is 10yrs old in d field dnt neccesary transcend to creating gud animations cuz i've seen many like dat. So lets get real, i'm churning out very high level jobs n u r jus gon stand thr speakin english allover d place? It dnt work like dat man. Diz n lots more r d problems we face here.
For me, if sm1 is dat gud ofcuz i'ld want to work wi him plus thr's d tin abt money too. In conclusion, i see us been like ds for a looong time unless dz tinz r taken care of. It's a burden we all have to bear for now.

But when u look at it again, hey we arent doing dat bad. On here alone, seeing d kind of stills guys like kazuna come up wi. Then thr is presently 1 or 2 from dz guys into maya n lots more like dat. I think thr's major growth in dat line.
On my part, thr's nothin i hate in a project more than an abandoned one. All d tinz mentioned in d last posts cld easily make or mar a project so they shld b well considered. But above all, if thr is talent n money, making an animation film shldnt b mch of a headache. And it starts wi us all knowing our strengths n weaknesses. This is wat dis guy does n oh. Dat guy is so gud at dis blablabla so dat square pegs dnt get fit in round holes. Then d team is formed even wi backups n we r gud to go. To have an insight of wat i'm talkin abt check out dis thread here in this section dat talks abt "setting standards in animation" here in dis section. Check it out n study all dz guys n thr comments. Nothing mch has changed since then.

Animation as a whole is a lot to chew. So i salute artists dat r versatile, knowing somthin from modellin, texturin, riggin all d way to animating. For me, i luv animatin bt in creatin a video, u'll need d other arms of animation. @least to some certain degree. The most important thing here is d ability to animate well, especially becuz u can easily find modelers n d other guys in thz part of d world.

Now, y do i focus so much on learning to animate well?
One bcuz it will help me create any story independently frm start to finish.
Two, u could get paid very well for your job depending on how good u r. And i'm actually talkin about a minimum of 10k-$100k per minute of animation or even more. Yeah, i aim high.
So dnt b discouraged cuz of d challenges u r facing now learning it as it will pay in d future plus dis is where africa is heading to now. From movies, cartoons n games. The possibilities r endless. But first u hv to get really really good.

I've been tryin to post sumfin here for over a week n dnt know y dat is... Anyways, dis one goes out to nepa. The've all of a sudden turned a new leaf in my area n i'm talkin a 1000% improvement of what they used to be. Thanks guys, unfortunately, i needed it very much more then wen i first started out 3d-ing compared to now. Well i guess it will stil b useful somehow. Anyways i'm goin to watch them a while n if it turns out dat they r now on my side... I'll come out of my anime break nxt month to show u guys my 2nd version (v2).
Right now, i'm doin some readin on clothes n i might stil not use em.

And yeah, i'll also polish my fotoshop skillz and eventually go into programming. So, lets see how nxt yeah would look like creatin apps n games all by myself. 3d is everytin.

So d post b4 dis one had me praising nepa for thr gud works. Yeah they did do gud. My thoughts abt dem as @ today just proves dat they cant b relied on. My opinion though. Yup, i'm readin @ my pace on clothes which happens to b a topic i've touched b4 (many times) but neva quite got ard it until now. The garment maker simply creates d mesh while d cloth modifier actually doz d simulations. Garment maker also groups dem in panels n applies d seams dat sows d panels together. Now 3dsmax says dat clothe panels shld b created from d top view but i keep seein ppl defyin dis rule n they stil get d req'd results. Hell, i even tried it too n it worked. I guess dat rule was thr incase of overlaps as in "avoiding it happenin.
Ok, so i'm goin back to listen to "chic and whitney houston". Mayb i'll get inspiration to create somethin new from dem.
