The English team have been knocked out of the Euro 2016 competition after losing to Iceland by conceding 2 goals in 12 minutes despite having a more experienced squad. Rooney was not in his best form on the pitch but was awarded a penalty in the 4th minute. But Iceland's Ragnar Sigurdsson and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson scored the 2 goals which granted them access to the quarterfinals to battle France.
