jakeporeshenko: Indian metallurgy has to improve. Indian built ship's are nice, but thier land systems are mostly horrible. Look at this vehicle, is this an IFV? The damn thing looks like an earthworm. |

Henry240: what has metallurgy to do here ? i mean how can u judge the quality of metallurgy from photos and for the nth time that is an APC not a IFV. looks like a earthworm ? have u laid eyes on a earthworm , aren't they suppose to be long and round , u got to keep searching for another appropriate analogy to me a hedgehog analogy seems fit anyways coming to point , dont know about others, but Indian army is not interested in aesthetic appeal of weapons they r more interested in the ergonomics , functionality , maintainability , operational capability etc etc of a weapon system. in short Indian military issues General Staff Qualitative Requirements (GSQRs) for each individual weapon system and every weapon system has to fulfill the requirements to be considered for user trials and if it does and passes the trials then it is inducted . as for Indian metallurgy Indian made nuclear submarines , nuclear reactors , aircraft's , helicopters , space launchers , satellites , missiles , medical equipment's , military vehicles, automobiles , ships , forging industries , electronics industry etc etc r using what then ? WOOD i dont think u have an idea of the work/research being done by hundreds of institutes and R & D centers both in the government sector and private sector in India and the no of patents filed . what is metallurgy ? it broadly encompasses 1.Physical metallurgy 2.Mechanical metallurgy 3.Extractive metallurgy 4.Powder metallurgy 5.Mechanical behaviour of materials 6.Materials science 7.Manufacturing processes 8.Alloys and composites 9.Environmental degradation of materials 10.Modelling and simulation 11.Nanoscience and technology 12.Surface engineering etc India is nearly self sufficient in all of the above except for some technologies it ranks among the high top 10 countries if not top 5 in some fields when it comes to metallurgy and advance materials (light alloys , advance composite material , particulate materials , ultrahigh temperature materials , smart materials , nano materials , ceramics , polymeric materials , inter mettalics etc etc ) last 60 years the fuuking budget for R & D was peanuts , only increased last year and still low. still a hell lot has to be done, since learning is a continuous process as technology always keeps on moving ahead , nobody can say he has all, only to realize he has been left behind hope u got a basic lesson on metallurgy, i was planning on a more comprehensive write up on advance materials like super alloys, shape memory alloys , bio materials etc when i realized what the hell nobody will even read it. 2 Likes |

OFF TOPIC lets talk about ancient indian metallugy in delhi there is a pillar called iron pillar of delhi weighing 6 tonnes which dates back to the reign of chandragupta II vikramaditya (375-414 AD), despite it being 1600 years old it has not rusted away as an iron structure should have. similar old pillars and objects in Indian temples exhibit similar rust proof properties which is still unexplained by science , even though some theories have been giving but non was proved . all this is a testimony to the skills of the ancient Indian metallurgists at forging iron objects. not many of u will know that university of taxila was the oldest university in the world (600BC-500AD) and was home to 10,000 students including from china Babylon Greece Syria etc and university of nalanda (2nd oldest university in the world) 500AD -1300AD was also home to around 10,000 students including from korea japan china tibet persia turkey etc but everything lost to Islamic invaders universities burnt, libraries burnt, centuries of priceless hard word gone to waste . why because fuuking Indians in their quest for spirituality, righteousness, forgiveness and such nonsense lost their teeth to fight and defend themselves. inspite of their knowledge and wisdom they failed to understand the reality that -in this world it is not the righteous who survive but it is only the fittest who survives. sometimes i wonder ...... why be good and not bad , does it even matter , after all good and bad is only a manifestation of human though process , they exist (including god) solely because we humans (our brains/minds) exist . my bets r on aliens and maybe sovngarde as a dragonborn

nemesis2u: No offence, the vehicle looks like an earthworm. It's great that India is trying hard to be self sufficient but aesthetically, your vehicles are so damn ugly. The LIght Combat Helicopter, LCA and mainly your land systems. Nothing beautiful about these vehicles. You got to work on your aesthetics. From China, the JF-17, J-10, J-20, J-31, Z-10, Chinese land systems, Naval systems, gear are by far more beautiful than anything India can offer. I understand the Chinese are atleast 30 - 40 years ahead of India, but they are your main rival. If you want to secure sales, you guys need to make your vehicles more beautiful. It's already a tight market. Whether ergonomics or whatever, there are many countries offering better. For example why would anyone want to go for the Kestrel when the VN-1 is available. I'm trying to insult India or anything of such, I'm only airing my opinion. Which i believe you agree with. |

Henry240: my dear friend if i had taken offence i would not have even replied , infact i had a good laugh wondering how would a nigerian earthworm look like if i were to base it on the APC design i am not a fan of aesthetics , i grew up a poor family and i learned the hard way that functionality gives u the bang for money/opportunities etc. a man with a empty stomach don't have much appreciation for beauty/aesthetics but if the beauty got nice boobs with milk in it , then surely count me in Indian military is basically a poor military so it needs functionality. the choice is of the buying nation depending whether it wants to enter a fashion show or fight a war china is 15-20 years ahead of india not 40 lolzz , from where do u conjure these data ? let me tell u a bed time story , in the 90s indian army personnel took a prototype of arjun to Israel, it was done in a hush hush manner, the Indian fellows were given Israeli uniforms ranks and names , for several months what they did is unknown . later some whispers were heard that the Israelis were so impressed with arjuns mobility and ride comfort that they named it the desert Ferrari and they also helped with some technology and in return they asked for some data on arjuns kanchan armour which in lab tests had easily resisted latest Israeli APFSDS rounds at point blank range fired at 0 degree , the test teams were so surprised they though that the Israelis were supplying dummy rounds . Indian weapons undergoes so much field trials that even comparable systems in their operation life cycle don't put up similiar mileage/usage. insult India as much as u want except for the good people rest of them deserve it and i am not bothered , look at the threads here on this forum, a rape happens in Antarctica and the people here start blaming india do u see me going there , i go when i see u fellows (the guys i know) there , we meet once or twice i think when i followed u anyways come on now ur putting worlds into my mouth i seriously dont agree with u , please take a look at an earthworm at the earliest opportunity and refresh ur memory , ur most probably confusing the earthworm with ur d*ng oh man! thats really funny 2 Likes |

nemesis2u: I'm glad you didn't take any offence. I'm not talking about this vehicle specifically anymore, I meant generally. Indian equipment has to improve in terms of aesthetics. They could be the best in the world or the worst in terms of functionality, I don't know. However what I do know is, the designs have to change. The ships and boats are nice, but land systems and aircrafts lots of improvements have to be made. Just my opinion. |

Henry240: as aesthetic as the one below that is one good weapon, get her to do a hot bollywood dance in skimpy cloths before the enemy troops and i think all of them will surrender peacefully , that is if they dont kill each other in the first place

nemesis2u: You edited your comment. So, I'm going with the previous question. In other not to hurt your feelings, it is not an earthworm, what it is, is............... One of the ugliest APC's, I've seen in my life. And, I've seen alot of them. |
