One of the ordinances that Christ gave believers is that those who repent and believe the gospel should be baptised in order to be saved (Mark 16:15,16). As such, some people emphasize baptism even at infancy believing that it washes away sins while others emphasize baptism for their members. It is clear from the bible that the most important thing is repentance from sin and faith in Christ. After the experience of conversion, one can then seek for water baptism to 'fulfill all righteousness". The thief on the cross did not have opportunity to be baptised in water yet he went to paradise (Luke 23:42,43).
