An explosion in the German city of Ansbach, near Nuremberg, has killed a suspected bomber and injured 12 other people, three seriously, police say.

They said a man - "according to our current knowledge the perpetrator" - had died in the blast.

The intended target was not clear but about 2,000 people have been evacuated from a nearby open-air music festival, the Bavarian interior ministry said.

It is third attack in the state of Bavaria in the past week.

A shooting rampage in Munich on Friday left nine dead while an axe attack on a train a week ago in Wuerzburg injured several people.

The explosion happened shortly after 22:00 (20:00 GMT) in, or close to, a wine bar that was near the entrance to the music festival, German media reported.
Initial reports suggested it might have been a gas explosion but the Bavarian interior ministry later said the blast appeared to have been intentional.

A police spokeswoman later said the suspected attacker had been carrying a backpack, but his identity was not yet known.

Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann was on his way to the scene.

The city's central square is packed with emergency vehicles and a town house is being used as an operations centre, the news website Nordbayern.de said (in German).

Why can't the sane world learn from the Japanese??

Ban Islam! Ban this allahu akbar shouting mofos, demolish the mosques and kick Muslims out of the country - giving them a chance to abandon their cult of course.

JAPAN has NO TROUBLE at all with Islam: 1 mosque in the entire country, 10,000 Muslims in a population of 130 million; Muslims not allowed to own property or evangelise and are deported the minute they do something Islamic, such as protesting about Japanese culture.

Can't they/we LEARN from the Japanese?

Islam is an awful stinking medieval-styled cult. Who else agree?

its not as easy as you are saying.the west present themseleves as someone who are free and fair...can you remember gays,transgender?..in the west you can do anything as long as its not a crime. If they start sending muslims out, then they will be accused of hyprocrisy...albeit..lots of muslims in western countries now hold vital positions..its a lose lose for them

Angela Merkel used to be the most influential and respected woman in the world, but today her fellow Germans hate and insult her for obviously making a bad decision.

I said this earlier. Now Germany is fast becoming the new Syria.
