To the English FA, Sam Allardycee might seem like the best man for England considering the Three Lions have lost their way, morale low, certain quality players unable to play well and their defending and results poor which are critical conditions that have brought out the best in the former Sunderland manager given his successes in Bolton Wanderers, Newcastle United, Blackburn Rovers, West Ham and then more recently Sunderland.

Alladycee might also have being appointed by the FA due to their ego and arrogance in appointing a foreign manager which seems the best move considering the failures of both Steve McLaren and Roy Hodgson and this might have been as a result of Britain's decision to exit the European Union last month.

Under Allardycee, England is expected to jettison the present possession football and instead play a collective defensive style which has come to be known as long-ball football. Allardyce gained this reputation during his time in Bolton and Blackburn as his team then played less attacking football with more emphasis on defending and set-piece at the same time allowing the attacking players (Jay Jay Okocha and Youri Djorkaeff) the freedom to reign havoc on the opposition, not forgetting his "19th century" football according to Jose Mourinho. But in truth, while this long-ball reputation is difficult to deny, Allardycee had to adopt this style as a result of several reasons which include: the features of the players available to him in his previous clubs, impatience by the club fans, owners and quest for instant success and the unavailability of funds to sign more quality attacking players to play the offensive style .

The former Sunderland manager might not be everyone's favourite but it is shocking how everyone have become so dumb to mention the fact that his Bolton Wanderers side over-achieved finishing consistently in the top half and fifth in a season also not forgetting reaching the League Cup final before losing to more funded Middlesbrough coached by Steve McLaren. Under Allardycee, the Three Lions will undoubtably become more solid at the back and more difficult to beat considering his records in both Bolton and Blackburn.

"I think it's probably just a mentality thing. Two years leading up to the tournament they beat every team.

"The team had good team spirit but unfortunately didn't lead to the right results. But there are loads of young English players and some other manager is bound to make things right," Manchester United Paul Scholes said after the announcement of Sam Allardycee as the new Three Lions Manager.

Allardycee also did his magic in Sunderland after succeeding Dick Advocaat in October who resigned winless and second bottom in the League after eight games. Although under Sunderland five straight games during the Christmas period yet he kept the a North East in the Premier League at the end of the season.

With the likes of Erik Deir, Harry Kane, Ross Barkley, John Stones and Danny Rose, Sam Allardycee has a pool of talented players to choose from and build his team. Though he might not be one of the best coaches in the world at present, Allardycee isn't a wrong choice as there seems to be a dearth or reluctance of quality coaches taking up international jobs with the likes of Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti all reluctant to coach their national sides.

They keep appointing coaches of mid-table clubs to manage their national team yet they wonder why they're not performing well in tournaments. I'm a huge fan of Big Sam (jayjay's former coach, took west ham out relegation, no team under him has ever been relegated etc) but I don't see him doing any better than McLaren or Hodgson.
