Reports says State governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have have agreed to ensure that Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu is removed from his position. We learnt, this was the resolve at meeting Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari had with the APC Governors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja yesterday, July 26.

Governor of Imo State, Ohale Rochas Okorocha who is the Chairman of the APC Governors Forum revealed this to our correspondent immediately after the meeting. Governor Rochas said they have also decided to intervene on the lingering crisis in the National Assembly to forestall peace and unite members of the party.

Nextnewslive.com in a bid to get more details on the outcome of the meeting, leant that, the governors expressed their dismay over Ike Ekweremadu’s deputy senate president role from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and agreed to do everything within their reach to push him out of the office.

“The governors sympathised with the President (Buhari) for working with a National Assembly that is largely seen as unfriendly.

“Particularly, they observed that in the absence of the President of the Senate, the next person is his deputy. They therefore agreed that it was an anomalous situation for a PDP person to continue as the Deputy President of the Senate.

“They sought and got the President’s permission to intervene in the matter in their own way.

“They argued that the truth of the matter is that rarely is there any Senator that emerged without the backing of their governors, hence the governors have some levels of influence on the federal lawmakers.”

Meanwhile, chairman of the APC governors forum, Rochas Okorocha had earlier restated their stance on battling Senator Ekweremadu out of office and be should ready to be replaced by Benjamin Uwajumogu, who won the last Saturday’s senatorial rerun in Imo State.

“The position of Senator Ike Ekweremadu as the Deputy Senate President is at the moment under heavy threat because in no distant time, the APC senator-in-waiting from Imo State, Benjamin Uwajumogu, will take over the seat on the grounds that it is an aberration that a PDP senator from the South-East is deputy to an APC Senate President because, before now, APC could not produce a Senator from the South-East zone.” said Governor Rochas Okorocha.

Nextnewslive.com further gathered, the highpoint of Tuesday’s meeting with President Mohammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa Abuja, was the approval of N2bn each to all APC states to help sort some problems facing them in the harsh economic period.

We have always known APC to be desperate, clueless and corrupt. But I never thought APC southeast would be this foolish.
How could they be part of the plan to remove the topmost south-easterner for a 'would be' senator?
What if the 'would be' never becomes? We know that the election is inconclusive, we also know that the wards remaining are PDP dominated. We are also aware that as a matter of course, the election would be challenged with will lead to injunctions to stay the swearing in of the winner. So where on earth did Okorocha get the idea of replacing Ekweremadu with the "waiting to be" senator Benjamin Uwajumago from IMO state.
