NOA Urges Nigerians To Be Resilient Despite Dwindling Economy. by nex(m): 2:30pm On Jul 27, 2016
In the light of the dwindling economy in the country, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has called on Nigerians, irrespective of religious and political affiliations, to be resilient, adding that other countries of the world have gone through similar challenges in their national development process.

This was stated in a press release made available to the media by the Deputy Director (Press), of the agency, Fidel Agu on Tuesday in Abuja.

Director General of NOA, Garba Abari made this call when he paid a courtesy visit on the Managing Editor, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

Abari noted that there was a high level of mistrust between the citizenry and the government which needs to be addressed through proper information management, hence his desire for collaboration between the two Agencies to foster national re-orientation, patriotism and unity amongst Nigerians.

He described the role of information dissemination as key in nation building, adding that NOA and NAN must mobilize opinions and characters towards changing the ugly narratives confronting Nigeria.

The DG NOA said “With the dwindling economy which constitutes greater challenge to meeting national obligations, there is need to tell Nigerians what is responsible for the challenges so that we can begin to assess ourselves and ask questions on how we missed it as a nation”. Assuring Nigerians of better days ahead, Abari said no society is immune from turbulence and challenges, but admonished that we must work together to get to the promised land and build a country that we will proudly bequeath to our children.

In his remarks, the Managing Director of NAN, Bayo Onanuga, said there was a disconnect between what our values as a nation used to be and what we see now, noting that we must be united and capitalize on our diversity to mobilize for national development.

Onanuga described corruption as the canker worm that has eaten deep into the fabric of our nation, calling on citizens to sensitize, mobilize and support the government in the fight against corruption which he said, is of utmost importance for national development.
