The Man, The Hero - A Poem To Celebrate The Menfolk by Nobody: 8:54pm On Jul 27, 2016
He was created first and then he got a partner
But despite being older and way wiser
He was the worker and the farmer
And daily he had to report to the father
How he had managed the garden’s matter
A hero he was, and still is…

All she did was eat and sleep
Ate the fruit, one for him to keep
Home he came just for the hope of rest
Just for the apple to become his test
He did all but she never did the rest
The curse came real, and still is…

Oh, many children was begotten of him
Through upheavals and lots of tears
Yet his plights still run through the bloodline
Lots of work he does and less credit he gets
For his is a fate that was made tough
But a hero he was and still is…

He must propose with a jeep
If the lady will be his to eternally keep
For his wife and children he must lose all sleep
No reward he must ask to reap
Lest he becomes the miser she cannot stand
But a hero he was, and still is…

Only perfumes he gets on his name-day
But on hers he must close the street and make her day
Even when his rivals show up and steal the day
He must keep calm and no words say
He always must be calm and loyal he must stay
He was a hero and still is…

All the fees he must pay
But no word of complaint he must say
No matter what becomes of his pay
Before his woman, wealth he must lay
‘A hero he is’, will she say?
But a hero he was, and still is…

Lots of debt he will always manage
But every situation he must salvage
For his family, wars he must wage
Will they call him a hero when they come of age?
Or will they with ingratitude put him in a cage?
Yet a hero he was, and still is…

While he sleeps and writhes in pain
She dresses well and fashion gets slain
But roam the city he must, just like Cain
Solve all problems with just one brain
Even though she treats him with disdain
All the same, a hero he was and always will be!
