Oyo Nlc,it Should Have Been Salary Alert Before Resumption. by koralink: 4:07pm On Jul 29, 2016
It is no longer news that Oyo State Chapter of the NLC had called off the 7-week old industrial strike embarked upon by the civil servant and teachers in the state. The national officials of the NLC who partook in the deliberations and signing of agreement that led to the suspension of the strike could not be blamed as they might not know about Governor Ajimobi. But the same could not be said of the officials of Oyo State Chapter of the NLC who were signatories to the agreement and who know that Ajimobi is a cunny and deceitful individual who does not honour agreement. With that, they should have waited for salary payment alert before asking the workers to resume. Now they have resumed and Ajimobi is foot-dragging to pay.In the agreement, the government had agreed to pay January and February salaries. The January salary(accoding to the agreement)will be paid immediately while that of February will be paid two weeks later. The reason for the staggered arrangement is that the government claimed it has no money as the payment of January salary promised would be borne from Federal allocation of June as well as N1.3billion bail-out loan from the Federal Government. The pertinent question that readily comes to mind here is what has happened to close to N4billion allocation for May,2016 which Ajimobi collected on behalf of Oyo State and its 33 local governments few days after the commencement of the strike action. All these financial impropriety of Governor Ajimobi are being piled up and and he will be confronted with all the facts at the appropriate time.No doubt the governor is a prisoner in waiting. My advice to the civil servants and teachers in the State is that if by the close of work today(29/7/2016)they still don't see salary alert, they should tactically withdraw their services for breach of agreement by the government.
