They can put irrelevancies like how to make moimoi on the front page, but not something like this? What's the matter with these people? Not everyone visits the Politics Section, and people who might help won't know about this boy unless it's on the front page.Seun! angry
Re: Help Me! Disfigured Teenage Student Cries Out by Mad_Max(f): 9:20am On Sep 29, 2009
Platinum you also NEED to arrange for and put the BANK ACCOUNT NUMBERS of the mother or father ON THIS THREAD so people resident in Nigeria may donate to it. There's been a constant request for that account number here.
Re: Help Me! Disfigured Teenage Student Cries Out by aysometin(f): 12:51pm On Sep 29, 2009
Done my bit!! I also invited all my friends to join the group!!

But we need to get more people to see this page and visit the site!!

How can we do that??

I remember trying to start 'save Caroline Johnson from Leukemia' on NL but all my posts were deleted!! Linda Ikeji had it on her blog!!!

Seun please, their is no harm in charity!!
Re: Help Me! Disfigured Teenage Student Cries Out by TheSeeker(m): 2:18pm On Sep 29, 2009
This is the account information of the boy's mother:

BANK NAME: UNION BANK

ACCOUNT NAME: LINDA NNANA EGBUCHULAM

ACCOUNT NUMBER: 2042000178513

Residents in Nigeria can make donations to the mother directly.

I have to register my displeasure at moderators and sub-moderators of this section, but most especially at Seun. I am really disappointed. This is supposed to be a Nigerian forum, one of the most popular at that, and a fellow Nigerian has a problem - one which the government that we know can't do anything about - however, the powers that be on Nairaland have decided to turn deaf ears to the clamor to save a child who we don't know what could become of him in the future.

I agree there are more adverse conditions than this boy's, but this is what we've been alerted about here. We know Nigerians can run different kinds of scams at different levels, but when it is verified must we turn deaf ears? Of course not. The least Seun and his employees could have done was put this thread on the first page but he has chosen not to do that, however, if it were to be some tribalism and asinine threads, they will make it to the first page. I had to look at the first two pages of this section and still couldn't find this thread until I had to go to my bookmark. Is this really right?

Seun, and I'm not being apologetic about it, I'm disappointed in you (only because I believe you know about this thread). The moderators, I am ashamed of you all. You're nothing to write home about. It's funny that y'all come out here and castigate the government when in fact, most of you can't make do of the little capacity you are placed in charge of. I wonder what would happen of some of you mods are to be governors or senators, or even the president - I know it'll be hell on earth for people beneath you.

If there are over 300,000 members on Nairaland, where 96% of them are Nigerians, and we can't get enough and substantial help for a Nigerian in dire and urgent medical need, then Nairaland is not worth the popularity and credibility it's accorded. Subsequently, it has failed woefully at an important facet. In fact, this fund we are talking about can be raised on Nairaland alone, and you, Seun, will be handed the money to put in the boy's mom's account. But I guess I'll have to wait till another millennium for that to happen.

This is sad. It is frustratingly disappointing. God help us all.

Please note moderators don't have the power to put a topic in the front page

what I can suggest is starting a similar topic in other sections

thanx Platinumnk wink

You will be surprised that if you put this thread on other sections it'll get deleted. And who told you they can't make a thread be on the first page? All those section rules that are always on the first page, how do they do it? Is it God that puts them there?

I meant front page not First page, they can make it stick to the first page though

another thing is moderators are not online 24/7, so be patient as much as we want to help we shouldn't be overly aggressive!

So why don't they stick it on the first page? So the messages on the front page displaces one another automatically, is that what you're saying?

Seconded!! Especially to the part in BOLD above!!

How to make Moi Moi can grace the front page but a thread that would save a soul is ignored!! sometimes I just wonder

Richyblack is the only moderator in this section,  he has not been online for a while
he is not an employee of Seun, he is a volunteer like the rest of the moderators

this thread can be stuck to the first page by the moderator but the Admin-Seun
can remove it if he doesn't want it there

I think there's an Ethics to fundraising -being loud and aggressive is certianly not one of them
just do the best you can

The boy is dying sir, that's why we are being loud and aggressive
If we don't act fast, he might lose his life!!! we are sorry but we would rather be loud and aggressive than to allow that happen at this stage!! That young boy has to live and poverty would not stand in our way!! huh

And what sensible reason on earth will he have to remove it from the first page? Very laughable comment you have there young man. And if I'm being loud and aggressive about it, yes, I have every right to be. Like I said, I'm not sorry for anything I have said. So far, as it stands, I'm disappointed. If romance section has 3 mods with 2 sub-sections, why can't politics with 2 sub-sections too have 3 moderators? Doesn't NL have global moderators that can work on any section of the forum? That's another blunder.

There are ethics to fund raising and one of them, which is in fact the first, is letting people know about it. How do people know about it when mods haven't put it where people will see it? Again my friend, your defense holds no water.

This isn't a laughing matter. Let's all begin to donate for that poor child.

I shall lead by example.

On behalf of myself, I donate a token amount (not to be mentioned) to that kid.

I hope you all would do the same.
