EFCC detains Imo State Ex-Governor Achike Udenwa
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission today re - arrested the former governor of Imo State Achike Udenwa in connection with alleged
campaign scandal at the last presidential election.
Udenwa as a State Co-ordinator for The Presidential Campaign Organisation in Imo State was said to have collected the sum of N350,000,000 (Three Hundred and Fifty Million Naira Only) from the former senator representing Kaduna South and Director of Finance for the PDP presidential campaign organisation, Nenadi Usman.

The suspect, in his statement to the Commission admitted receiving the money via Diamond Bank account No.0058805692 and 005950791 respectively on the 14th and 28th of January 2015 in three separate instalments. He added that the money came from a company named Joint Trust Dimension Limited. This same company was charged alongside Mrs Nenadi  Usman  and the Media Director of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Femi Fani Kayode before Federal High Court Lagos on a similar allegation.

Investigation however revealed that Achike Udenwa and one Viola Onwuliri, a former Minister of Foreign Affairs and  State Minister for Education, who was his deputy at the  Presidential Campaign Organization were the two signatories to the Diamond Bank account that received the money.
Upon his arrest, Udenwa was immediately granted administrative bail by the commission with condition that he should be reporting to the commission at an appointed time. But while enjoying his administrative bail, Udenwa chose to deliberately skip reporting, thereby compelling the commission to revoke his administrative bail pending his arraignment soon.
Achike Udenwa was a governor of Imo State under the flagship of People’s Democratic Party between 1999 and 2007 and became a minister
of Commerce and Industry between 2008 and 2010 under Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

And to think that all these people are on life pension equivalent to the basic salary of a sitting governor with other benefits like choice house in their respective states and FCT, medical allowance, official cars replaceable every three years, house helps like 5, security and many more ridiculous benefits.
We worship money too much in this part of the globe to the extent that our appetite is now insatiable. It's very serious and sickening at the same time.

So, what should we do?

As long as the N350m doesn't translate into opportunities for the masses as easily as they sre announced,, this information is as useless as the Events section of this forum.

[size=15pt]The only time our politicians are united is when it comes to looting and sharing of the nation's wealth.
Then, they don't know hausa, igbo or yoruba but the moment things go south, they start whipping ethno-religious sentiments. Unfortunately, foolish Nigerians still fall for this.
Anyone that is yet to realize that the enemies of this countries are not the hausas, the igbos or the yorubas is a bloody fooool!!

The enemies of this country are our political class.

If an armed robber steals a few hundred thousands of naira then he is sentenced to death but when a politician steals billions of naira then 4rm funds meant 4 a particular project to benefit millions of Nigerians, he won't spend a year in jail. Then he'll come out & do thanks giving.

Nothing in this write up suggest that Udenwa was asked to refund money and he failed to do same.

The EFCC is not a Court of Law and can't assume the role of the Court.

If a criminal case has been established against the former governor, he should be charged to Court asap and the Court in its wisdom can order Udenwa to refund or forfeit monies.
