.Dr. Katsuya Takasu has been granted permission to donate the sum of US$390,000 to the Nigeria Under-23 football team, as a reward for their performance at the ongoing Rio 2016 Olympics.

He made public his intention to donate the money few days ago and a document stumbled upon by Owngoalnigeria, showed he has been granted permission to travel to Belo Horizonte, where Nigeria will take on Honduras in the Bronze medal match to make the donation.

Nigeria failed to qualify for the final after losing 0-2 to Germany in the semi-finals but the businessman who is a strong supporter of the Nigerian Olympic team is still going ahead with his plans to reward the team financially.

Dr. Takasu will give head coach of the team Samson Siasia the sum of US$ 200,000 while captain of the team Mikel Obi will take home the sum of US$120,000.

It is good to wish them luck, but Nigerian athletes seem to be relying too much on luck and prayers instead of concentating on proper trainning with adequate facilities, forgeting the biblical dictum that denotes that “faith without work is dead.”

Can you compare the Chinese preparations with that of Nigeria?

You can call it all you want, but when they start reaping the fruits of their sacrificial works, then Nigerians will be hoping for medals that they failed to properly prepare for. I don't encourage extemporization.

I think precocious Nigerian kids in every area of sports should be hunted and made to pass through several training programmes and competitions . Then as time flies by , those who are unfit to compete at a high level are winnowed out till we are left with the best that can feature in top competitions like the Olympics .

What is the fuse about what I wrote here? I don't owe anyone apology for this comment. Nigeria made Mikel and he is giving back to the country. Other stars have done same to their fatherland. Some people just hate Nigeria for a futile agitation for a country that may never be. We have no other country than Nigeria and I want to let you guys know that, there is no amount of hatred or curse you place upon Nigeria that you will not be a partaker. What have I said to warrant some guys saying rubbish or bad belly?
Mikel has not done enough and will still do more.
